When Katie Pennicott at Sunnyvale Primary saw the playground showing its age, she didn’t just settle for a like for like—she reimagined the space entirely. Working together, we turned that vision into a vibrant, inclusive playspace where kids of all ages and abilities come together, explore, and connect. From the slide connecting classrooms to open, imaginative play areas, this playground now brings Sunnyvale’s values of creativity and connection to life every day. Want to see how it all happened? What a great win for the Waitaki District Council and the Oamaru community. We're excited to tell their story within their public spaces. It will be amazing.
Don't be fooled by the headline! This redevelopment at Oamaru Harbour is much more than parking. My team at Creo are excited to be working with Waitaki District Council to bring the urban park section of this project to life. The space will include play and local storytelling. Will share more as it develops. "It’s a good investment in the community." - Mayor Gary Kircher

I'm excited to share this fantastic project we recently completed in Hokitika! It was a privilege to work with the Westland District Council - Te Kahui o Poutini and local community groups to bring this project to life. A massive shoutout to our incredible Creo team for designing and building this playspace—we’re truly proud of it and know it will be a great asset to the community. Some highlights from this project: We collaborated closely with mana whenua and local community groups to ensure this space is inclusive. The bespoke Clock Tower, designed and manufactured by our team. Custom surface design and features that create a sense of belonging. Caroline Bay Playground is the result of the passion, commitment, and hard work of the CPlay community group. The group won another award last Friday: the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce 2024. After winning Playspace of the Year from Recreation Aotearoa | Te Whai Oranga award, this is just another incredible recognition. As Roselyn Fauth says, "This is an iconic jewel in Timaru's crown." We need more projects where community effort can bring results for everybody! Well done, team! PS: if you haven't seen their documentary, watch it on here: https://hubs.ly/Q02LFDZV0

If there is one aspect of playspace design and build we love working with it is culture and storytelling. But why? ⭐Enables a sense of belonging. Users will take ownership of the space. ⭐Foster open ended play. ⭐Learning opportunities. Just look at CPlay or Botanic Gardens, they tell stories that teachers and children can learn as they play! These are just some of the benefits. For all of them, just watch the video below. Want to read more? Why are playspaces so important when designing a destination playground? Take a look at CPlay, a project where Creo flexed their design muscles on the playspace—covering everything from surface designs to the positioning of play elements. This is an award-winner space that beautifully tells a local story, honors the past, and pays homage to the local Iwi, all seamlessly integrated into the playspace and play elements. With projects like this, you get: ⭐Loads of play value. ⭐Various learning opportunities. ⭐Inclusivity for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. ⭐Plus, a bundle of joy, laughter, and memories that stick around for generations.
