We are often asked if we can provide certification for people that are experienced in working within hazardous areas, who want to be recognised under the IECEx Certification of Personnel Competency scheme (CoPC). We are pleased to confirm we can now do so with our partners from Competency Training (RTO 31299) providing certification courses now in New Zealand. We'll be holding our first assessment course in Auckland Wednesday October 9 to Friday October 11. Buzz Electrics The iSPEC Think Different Award celebrates a remarkable approach to solving common problems through innovative and unconventional methods. This accolade honors individuals or teams who embrace a #thinkdifferent mindset and a can-do attitude, demonstrating creativity and originality in tackling challenges. Their ability to see beyond traditional solutions and implement fresh, effective strategies highlights their commitment to innovation and problem-solving excellence. Buzz Electrics undertook a controls upgrade on three fruit presses that included the need for constant and reliable ethernet data to be exchanged between proposed Siemens S7-1214FC SIMATIC PLC’s and an existing Rockwell plant PLC - a difficult thing to achieve accurately. The team at Buzz Electrics deployed an innovative solution to read or write process values as CIP clients to the CIP Server located on the Rockwell PLC. This approach means that a cost-effective solution requiring no changes to the existing Rockwell PLC could be deployed. The uniquely designed solution overcame a common challenge and showed that a fresh thinking and an open-minded approach to automation can yield the simplest and most cost-effective solution. Their forward-thinking strategies and groundbreaking initiatives mark them as trailblazers; reshaping the landscape and inspiring others to follow in their transformative footsteps The engineering team from Taupo District Council, led by Chris Hector, developed and deployed automation control platforms for two-pump controller stations, rather than using traditional remote terminal units. The team used PLC based systems with remote connectivity which can effortlessly scale in both hardware and software depending on the size and requirements of each project. The result is a flexible design that can be readily implemented on virtually any council pump station around the country. Commissioned by installing electricians using pre-loaded memory cards with software for PLCs and VSDs, the project delivered substantial cost and emission reductions and proved an efficient and valuable new technological approach. By adopting cutting-edge technologies and novel strategies, they set a benchmark for delivering transformative success and industry leadership.
