Emergency Medicine Specialists On-Demand
About us
Emergency Consult is a 24-hour telehealth service. We're on-call to support health providers and patients. Our Doctors are senior Emergency Medicine Specialists who see and treat patients on-demand via web-based video chat. We provide rapid medical care direct-to-public in New Zealand as well as supporting a range of healthcare providers. We partner with ambulance services, emergency departments, aged care homes, pharmacies, and rural health clinics. Together we ensure after-hours cover, clinical oversight, and easy escalation to emergency medicine experts. Emergency Consult comprises an extensive network of Emergency Consultants plus Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses - all working remotely with a vision to ease pressure from our nation's emergency departments and prioritise in-person and hospital care.

We're kicking off Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori language week) with one of our favourite proverbs. It means "Our strength is not as individuals but as a collective." It's highly relevant because we see our telehealth service as a support mechanism and we work collaboratively with other healthcare organisations. Find out more about the how we partner with health providers at: emergencyconsult.co.nz #tewikiotereomāori #maorilanguageweek #maoriproverb #maoriwisdom #emergencyconsult #emergencymedicine #telehealth #HealthcareCollaboration

There's a Māori proverb that we often borrow: Ehara tāku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini. It means "our strength is not as individuals but as a collective." All of us frontline clinicians - whether we work in an ambulance, in the hospital ED, or online - want to see patients cared for effectively. That's why we're banding together to explore how we can see and treat people in their own homes (when it's appropriate) and reduce unnecessary ED congestion. Shout out from our Ops Support Coordinator Sarah, and RN Debbie, who are working with some of the Hato Hone St John Waikato crew. Introducing Dr Karina Walters - she's one of the friendly doctors you may seen on-screen if/when you need a video consult. Dr Walters holds impressive qualifications. Can you believe that she gained a PhD in biochemistry before even embarking on her medical career! This Texan Kiwi continues to serve as an ED physician, as well as teaching the next generation of doctors, and working online with Emergency Consult. Outside of medicine she enjoys soccer, pilates, pickleball and fishing. It's a pleasure Karina! Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. This year's theme is “together we can” - highlighting the strength of coming together and standing in support of those connected to the tragedy of overdose. Overdose affects lots of people - those who use drugs and those who don’t, heartbroken friends and whanau, healthcare and harm reduction workers, first responders, and advocates. Please note: An overdose is a medical emergency for which you would need to get the patient to the nearest hospital emergency department or dial 111 for an ambulance. Our Emergency Doctors are online, at all hours, for advice and support: emergencyconsult.co.nz #EndOverdose #AwarenessDay #TogetherWeCan #IOAD2024 #EmergencyMedicine #EmergencyConsult #Consult365

There's a nasty flu doing the rounds. Keep your whanau, and your work mates, safe from the virus by staying home if you're unwell, getting lots of rest, and ventilating any communal spaces. Drink small amounts of fluids often. We're available online for video consults, day or night, if you need medical advice 👉 emergencyconsult.co.nz. #FluPrevention #StayHome #HealthTips #VirtualConsultation #WorkplaceWellness #OnlineHealthcare #PreventTheSpread #Consult365 #EmergencyConsult #OnlineDoctor
