#EnterpriseAngels - Investment for growth!
About us
Enterprise Angels offers a unique model of early stage investing in New Zealand connecting early stage companies with business angels to maximise success. We believe that growing innovative, socially and environmentally responsible companies is the key to ensuring people, communities, businesses, the environment, and the economy thrive. Enterprise Angels has a professional management team, efficient processes and rigorous due diligence to mitigate investor risk. We consider our model as ‘best practice’ for investing in early stage companies, which is inherently risky. While investment funds are always important, we regard the skills and experience our management team and business angels bring to the investee companies as being even more important. Through our team, members and partners we aim to add real value as well as capital to portfolio companies. Enterprise Angels members make individual investment decisions but do so together drawing on each other’s experience and expertise. This approach increases the returns from and success of investments. Our objective is to connect experienced investors with entrepreneurs and innovators. Enterprise Angels members will consider investing in businesses from all industry sectors and at any stage of growth, from seed to post-revenue. However we invest most actively in things we can ‘kick’ – innovative businesses in the agriculture, dairy, horticulture, engineering, food and clean tech industries. The experience we can draw from our member pool is vast and crucial in helping many early stage businesses and concepts grow to their full potential. Enterprise Angels is a member of the Angel Association of New Zealand (AANZ), a network of more than a dozen angel groups and funds throughout the country.

Enterprise Angels members Alan Dick and Brian Bilas have been working closely with Daniel Evans founder of MaiBand since March 2023. Back then Daniel showcased at our Pitch Night after winning the New Zealand Young Enterprise National – Gallagher Smart Technology Award and Yia Supreme Technology Award in 2022. We're excited to have Daniel in next week's Pitch Night lineup - all set to pitch for investment! Maiband is a pioneering startup dedicated to enhancing emergency medical car, it has developed a cutting-edge band with wireless capability. This wristband links directly to a patient’s live medical information, providing instant, critical data access to paramedics in emergency situations.(as per the video below). The demand for efficient and reliable access to patient medical records in emergency situations is significant with a global market opportunity of >$7b. MaiBand addresses this need by providing a seamless solution that bridges the gap between patients, healthcare providers, and emergency responders. Daniel has received interest from Hato Hone/St John and Medtech (the largest practice management system in New Zealand) in Maiband. So now he is raising $509k to hire two software developers to help achieve GP practice management system integrations. He is also looking people in the medical profession to support him on his journey. If you are a qualified wholesale investor keen to find out more about this kiwi startup and the other investment opportunities available, register for our upcoming Pitch nights. Thrilled to have Kieran Gardiner, co- founder of Venu presenting at Pitch nights next week. Venu rapidly grows marketing databases by seamlessly enrolling customers for loyalty at the payment terminal. While typical loyalty participation sits around 10%, Venu is already seeing 60% of customers register after just 3 visits, and 92% register after 10 visits. Venu’s loyalty product links payment cards, customer identities, and marketing consent. This enables offline brands to track customers through the payment terminals, to measure and optimise digital marketing with the same precision as online brands. The company has secured three major hardware partnerships (Pax, Ingenico, Verifone), which manufacture ~70% of the world’s payment terminals. It has also recently closed one of Australia's largest bar chains, set to pay $300k. Venu is raising $2m pre-seed with $1.3m already closed with the round being led by AIM - Angel Investors Marlborough. 𝙋𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙉𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 – 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙗𝙤𝙪𝙩? The purpose of Pitch Night is to introduce investment ready businesses to our membership as prospective investment opportunities. These early-stage companies could be existing Enterprise Angels portfolio companies returning for further investment, or new opportunities from the region or further afield. Prior to Pitch Night, we conduct a screening process on all prospective companies to ensure they have a viable offering for investors. This is done initially by our Investment Manger Jake Hoffart and Nina Le Lievre who then put forward candidates to our Investment Committee, comprising of Alan Dick, Beppie Holm , Colin Groves, Hadleigh Ford, Ian Greaves, and Ryan Thompson. The approved companies are then invited to Pitch night where they give a five minute pitch followed by five minutes Q&A from the audience. All participants then complete feedback forms evaluating the company and indicating their interest. This feedback is essential in determining the next steps for the company’s capital raise with Enterprise Angels. If there is sufficient interest in a company, in terms of indicative financial commitment and willingness to get involved in due diligence, we will move forward in working with the company. This can often involve conducting further due diligence prior to calling for commitments to invest. If you're a wholesale investor keen to attend our March Pitch nights in person in Tauranga and Hamilton or online please register here: https://lnkd.in/gx3Q4Ru2 We'd look forward to seeing you there. #pitchnight #capitalraising #angelinvesting #innovation #startups

Emerge Group Ltd is one of the nine portfolio companies that currently make up EA Fund 4. It's a digital first business banking alternative that has two offerings: SquareOne App, the platform for parents to help teach their kids to manage money in a digital first world and Emerge, a digital first business banking platform targeting SMEs. We first engaged with founders Jamie Jermain and Jovan Pavlicevic in 2021 during their initial capital raise for SquareOne App. Since then we have seen the company go from strength to strength and it was our first EA Fund 4 investment. We noted that Jamie and Jovan had collectively managed to solve hard problems whilst maintaining a laser customer focus, developing an impressive proprietary tech stack, forward planning to exceed future regulatory and security requirements, raising capital and building a solid team around them. No mean feat. They had big ambition and we backed them for the next stage of the journey which was the launch of Emerge. Emerge was only launched in April last year and already the team have built and grown and delivered on more than they thought possible. Earlier this year they surpassed over $10m in deposits, and are seeing steady ARR Growth, Card Transaction Volumes and Ledger Balance Growth, a testament to the trust they seeing in the market. If you’re a wholesale investor, keen to invest in Emerge and other high flying kiwi startups, check out EA Fund 4. https://lnkd.in/gPjdKW6C It's an opportunity to diversify your portfolio in this exciting asset class and be part of growing some of NZ’s most innovative companies. Don't delay final close 31 March. #fintech #investmentopportunity #investingstartups #portfoliodiversification #angelinvesting
