Nice one Hospitality New Zealand! Their new Sustainability Strategy, launched earlier this year, says they'll "embrace quick wins — simple changes with immediate impact such as eliminating single use and reducing waste — and tackle longer-term goals with persistence and planning" https://lnkd.in/g4VvaijU #reuse #circularsystems #circulareconomy #systemchange #zerowaste #reducingwaste #sustainability #climateaction

We took the decision to purchase a fleet of reusable food trays when our Project and Operations Manager Ali Kirkpatrick identified the huge potential to expand reuse options for food in a wide range of event and venue settings. This week they have been in use at Te Rā o te Raukura, Waitangi Day in Porirua and they will be out again in force at Island Bay festival tomorrow. They are proving a hit with vendors and event goers alike. #reuse #reuseable #reusesystems #circularsystems #eventreuse #wastereduction #citywidesystems #logistics #collaboration
Still absolutely buzzing from Te Rā o te Raukura this weekend! Having both our waste minimisation crew and reuse crew alongside FillGood l Reusable Serviceware was epic, as was seeing FillGood’s brand-new reusable trays hit the scene for the first time! Designed by Christie Kamphuis and her team at bettercup.®, the trays were a hit. The best part? Reuse was optional, yet 10 out of 14 food vendors chose to jump on board. That speaks volumes—when reuse is simple and seamless, people want to be part of it. One of the first attendees we spotted grabbed a bacon butty in a FillGood tray... then reused the same tray as we watched! What a precedent to set for a great day! This is more than waste reduction. It’s about changing the norm. And this is just the beginning. The reuse revolution is well and truly here! 🚀

This weekend was a special one for FillGood. During the Wellington Phoenix Football Club vs. Adelaide game on Saturday, Sky Stadium—our HQ and a key part of FillGood’s story—rolled out our reusable wine tumblers for the first time. 🥂 Sky Stadium joined our original working group after stadium Operations Manager Hamish Allen identified a real opportunity to reduce waste and lead the charge toward more sustainable events in Pōneke. Seeing fans begin to use and return the tumblers on Saturday was a practical step toward change at some of our most iconic venues. It’s just the beginning, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this partnership leads as we roll out more solutions in the coming months. A huge thank you to Sky Stadium and the team there who helped to bring this to life! If you're attending a game at the stadium, look out for FillGood on the concourse!

We had a wonderful time supporting the Wellbeing Economy Alliance Aotearoa NZ with reusable serviceware so that all catering could be zero waste at their conference. #circularsolutions #circulareconomy #zerowasteevents #zerowasteconferences
When you're organising an event about redesigning our economy, it's crucial to embody the local, zero waste system you are hoping to inspire! Shoutout to FillGood l Reusable Serviceware who provided a zero waste solution to food and drink at the #economyforpublicgood. FillGood is a not for profit collaborative project initiating a city-wide reusable serviceware system for food and drink at commercial and community run events in Wellington. They are a tangible step to a zero waste economy! 🌏 Let’s #refill, #reuse, and #rethink for a better future. https://www.fillgood.nz/ Thanks Sarah Booher for these beautiful photographs.

⏰🔴⚫⚪1 DAY TO GO: if you’re yet to oppose the Treaty Principals Bill, and are not sure where to start, we recommend the Amnesty International tips and submission template which was used as the framework for the Sustainability Trust submission (see 🔗 in comments). Why submit a submission? Sustainability Trust, one of our parent entities, has submitted to strongly oppose the Treaty Principles Bill, which undermines the intent and spirit of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (The Treaty of Waitangi) and risks significant harm to Aotearoa’s cultural, social, and environmental future. Sustainability Trust recognises Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the founding document of Aotearoa. As an organisation we work hard to achieve the kinds of relationships between Tangata Whenua and Tangata Tiriti which were envisioned by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We acknowledge there is much to be done to honour Te Tiriti, at a personal, organisational and systems level. It concerns us that this bill will: • reduce the constitutional status of the Treaty/Te Tiriti • remove its effect in law as currently recognised in Treaty clauses • limit Māori rights and Crown obligations • hinder Māori access to justice • impact Treaty settlements • and undermine social cohesion Submission deadline: is 11.59pm on Tuesday 7th of January ~ there is still time to submit. Please tautoko and make a submission today (see link in comments for a free template). 📸 Photo: taken at the 2024 Hīkoi, where the FillGood and Sustainability Trust teams were volunteering on the ground to help minimise waste and maximise energy with reusable serviceware for kai. #tetiriti #tautoko #socialjustice #haveyoursay

Single use? Never heard of her. The Zero Waste Network Aotearoa National Zero Waste Summit this week delivered zero waste catering across three days including a charged political panel chaired by Kim Hill. There was no shortage of debate about the root causes of waste in our economy. At FillGood we're creating a system that enables reuse across at all events, shifting perceptions and creating a culture of reuse. Reuse is the future of ALL events. #zerowaste #cultureofreuse #citywidereusesystem #circulareconomy #collaboration #reuse #designoutwaste #events #eventwaste

Tautoko. Hīkoi mō te Tiriti arrives in Pōneke tomorrow. This is a significant event for Aotearoa. Sustainability Trust is not in support of the Treaty Principles Bill, and the raft of anti-Te Tiriti legislation that undermines our shared relationship as Treaty partners. We have supported our staff to attend or volunteer where we can. Plan ahead:
The Zero Waste Network supports the Hīkoi mō te Tiriti o Waitangi, and will attend events around the motu. Starting tomorrow, a national Hīkoi will be travelling from Te Rerenga Wairua/the tip of the North to Te Whanganui a Tara/Wellington in support of Te Tiriti. We think it is critical that all people and organisations across Aotearoa NZ who care about a peace and just future stand together for Te Tiriti now. As part of our commitment to Te Tiriti and to the Hīkoi, we have re-arranged Day 2 of our National Summit which will be happening on the day the Hīkoi travels to Parliament. This will allow Summit attendees to attend the Hīkoi and get involved in para kore/zero waste efforts at the event. We believe that a zero waste future is one built upon undoing the harms of colonisation past and present. It's our future to built together. Whaia te iti kahurangi, ki te tuohu koe me he maunga teitei.
