When iconic Kiwi brands get together, Brollabs are made! With Labour Weekend kicking off the (unofficial) start of summer 🌞, to help celebrate our 100th birthday, we’ve partnered with fellow Kiwi icons Cookie Time, Tip Top, Behemoth, and Wattie's to cook up a limited-edition range of summer collabs, available exclusively in Four Square supermarkets now. And because we crafted these with our mates, we’re calling them Brollabs! Here's a taste of what can find in-store: - The Birthday Cookie from Cookie Time Group: A delicious vanilla sponge reminiscent of the best childhood birthday parties. 🍪 - Fruju Orange Rush from Tip Top Ice Cream: By popular demand, this classic Kiwi treat is back as a single serve. 🍊 - Hazy of the Century IPA from Behemoth Brewing Company: A hazy loaded with the best South Island hops. 🍻 - Wattie's (Kraft Heinz) Limited-Edition Upside Down Tomato Sauce: A must-have collector’s item celebrating this iconic Kiwi partnership. 🍅 So, slip on your jandals and slide in-store to grab your limited-edition Brollabs! Because if there’s anything we’ve learned over the last hundy years, it’s that summer is better with mates. The Foodstuffs grocery co-ops have acknowledged today’s release by the Commerce Commission of its full reasons for declining our merger clearance application. On 1 October, the Commission announced its decision to decline our application to merge with Foodstuffs South Island but have only provided the full determination today. Our CEO Chris Quin said the co-ops will now take time to examine the reasonings before deciding next steps. “Our submissions showed this merger wouldn’t reduce competition in any market because we’re two co-ops in two separate islands.” “We still firmly stand by the benefits for customers, partners, stores and our teams. We can deliver these if we are able to operate as a national business like all other major locally owned organisations.” Both co-ops’ Boards have 20 working days to give notice of an appeal. "If we appeal it will be because we haven't seen any new information or changes regarding the issues the Commission raised during the clearance process – issues we believe we thoroughly addressed – and we see no valid basis for its final decision." At Foodstuffs, we’ve been supplying food to New Zealanders for over a century and today, we’re super excited to be part of a new initiative to help feed hundreds of thousands of school kids. 🥪 🥗 🍎 🙌 The School Lunch Collective, in partnership with Compass Group, Libelle, Gilmours, and other kiwi suppliers will soon be helping to provide nutritious lunches for the Ka ora, Ka ako programme starting Term 1 2025. The School Lunch Collective is committed to the well-being of students across New Zealand by supporting the Ministry of Education to deliver healthy, delicious meals, and we're proud to be working alongside industry leaders in this space. David Seymour says, “The programme will deliver simple but nutritious hot and cold meals – butter chicken, chicken katsu, lasagna, chicken pasta salad and wraps - All students in year 0 to 8 will receive the same sized meals (240 grams) and older students will receive larger lunches (at least 300g) – which will include additional items such as fruit, yoghurt or muesli bars.” A big day for the co-op and for Gilmours and we’re looking forward to continuing to nourish the future of Aotearoa. #KaOraKaAko #HealthySchoolLunches #AotearoaLunchCollective Chris Quin Catherine Tardif Cindy Chaimowitz Dominic Quin Jo Allan Jonathan Box Julian Benefield Lindsay Rowles Lisa Oldershaw Simon Kennedy Wendy Hammonds David Seymour Ministry of Education New Zealand Compass Group New Zealand Libelle Group Ltd Andrew Gaukrodger Stefan Herrick Esther Gordon Clinton Rowling Sonia Beal Sophie Parish Gilmours Wholesale Food & Beverage

Foodstuffs North Island Limited reposted this
A lot of you have been in touch about the recent merger decision. Thank you for your support. There are a few misperceptions out there, though, which I've sought to address in this article. Thoughts welcome!

Our Māori Tribe, Te Uru Kahikatea spent the day at Papatuānuku Kōkiri Marae in Māngere having our planning and strategy day. For a lot of the team it was the first time they’d met face-to-face having travelled from all over the North Island and from all corners of the co-op. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, good kai, whānaungatanga (building connections), and thinking big about the vision for the group and Foodstuffs. Tribe member Kasia Liska says "Being part of the tribe means creating a safe space for growth, no matter who you are or where you come from. Like the roots of the kahikatea, we connect to create a strong network, today and for the future." "Me uru kahikatea te tū, let us stand together like the kahikatea trees." 🌳 #Foodies #strategy #connection #kai Katerina Kupenga AraHina Facilitation Consultancy Emily Rubin Julian Benefield Wendy Hammonds Chris Quin TupuToa Ruawai Te Rata Cameron S. The Foodstuffs co-ops have recorded another month of success in our ongoing fight against inflation. While Stats NZ have recorded a national rate of 1.2% food price inflation in the 12 months to September, we recorded 0% for our comparable basket of goods, on average across our 500+ stores. It’s the 3rd time since March our rate has been zero or below, and the 7th consecutive month both rates have been under 1.5% p.a., meaning NZ continues to have one of the lowest rates in the OECD. Foodstuffs NZ Managing Director Chris Quin said the co-ops have worked hard to tame food price inflation over the past two years despite significant severe weather events and international pressures. Quin added that those who compare NZ prices with those overseas tend to overlook factors including the lower or nil GST most OECD countries have on some or all grocery foods. 🐟 Did you know that the vast majority of seafood in New Zealand is exported? We think Kiwis should have access to fresh New Zealand seafood, so five years ago, we partnered with Leigh Fish to provide our customers with seafood direct from sea to supermarket! 🐟 We offer fish deliveries up to six days a week, so stores can order just enough to cover daily sales, which helps minimise waste and makes sure our customers are getting the freshest options possible. 🐟 One area that we’re seeing good growth is in whole fish, and with many species only returning about a third of the weight into a fillet, why not use the whole fish? Our operations manager Brett Sellers has one good tip for storing seafood too – don't break the cold chain. Keep your seafood chilled on the way home with an ice pack until you can refrigerate or freeze it so you can lock the freshness in. Congrats to Leigh Fish and our Foodstuffs North Island teams for a wonderfully fresh five years.
