It's all ON at the Registered Master Builders Association National Apprentice of the Year competition this week. We're proud to have our very own Hunter Moon competing for the 2024 title. Yesterday, the nine finalists battled it out in a six hour practical build - making a garden house, which will be donated to an early learning centre. The Fosters support crew report that Hunter "showed great eye for detail and his time keeping was excellent". We think he did a pretty good job! 👏 Best of luck for the awards tonight, Hunter! 🤩 #NZConstruction #ApprenticeOfTheYear2024 #AwardFinalist
About us
At Fosters, we offer our clients a complete service, providing a Full Cycle of Property. To ensure this happens, we've developed a business model to look after our clients’ property requirements from beginning to end. Fosters involvement in all aspects of the property cycle include development, construction and maintenance services to help provide a sustainable business model moving forward. Fosters is a Waikato owned and operated company, proud to make a difference in the community it operates in. All of the owners in the company hold key positions within Fosters, and this provides a level of buy-in and commitment to make projects a success. For a client, this means that you have a direct connection with the decision makers of Fosters through your build process. The commercial construction market has many risks, and Fosters manages these risks to ensure we are well placed to sustainably deliver projects. Some of the things we do are: • We focus on projects in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty where we have strong relationships and supply networks. • We invest in great systems to provide timely information for job and company management. • We know what we are good at, and what we are not so good at. We try and play to our strengths and stay focused on Warehouse, Retail, Office and Public projects. • We only promise what we can deliver. This applies to time, cost and quality outcomes. • We take a whole of life approach to construction, making sure the projects we deliver are fit for purpose long term.

An update on Rototuna Village, where we are working on Stage 2 of the Kinfields Development. The new 4-block development is on schedule for delivery early next year. As you can see from the pics, the carpark area is in progress, Block 2 windows are installed, and Block 3 flashings are in progress with tenancy walls being positioned. Building wrap is also underway, which will make the buildings weather-tight. Subs are due in for the ‘first fix’ next week 😊 #workinprogress #NZConstruction #ProjectUpdate

Big thanks to Urban Task Force for having our Sustainability Lead Mitika C. and Director Leonard Gardner along to speak about sustainability in construction earlier this week. Our key messages: - make sure you incorporate sustainability into your building design - in other words, think about it early on - consider the building's thermal envelope - this could have a major effect on the energy efficiency of your building in the long-term #SustainableBuilding #SustainableConstruction #NZBusiness
It was great to see a full house yesterday morning as we facilitated the conversation about Building with Sustainability in mind. Our Power Panel of speakers really turned it on: #Fosters provided a construction perspective, #PMG shared their owner and tenant knowledge, #Sunergise provided a solar panel benefit analysis and #ASB gave us the insights into green loans and sustainable finance! Great to see such a turnout from our members again. #property #tauranga #utf

Supporting the development of leaders in our community is important to us. So, it was with pleasure that Fosters CEO Nigel Sun presented the Stars Teina Manukura Taki - Leadership Award to Autumn Smith at the recent Graeme Dingle Foundation Waikato awards evening. Autumn won this award for "demonstrating exemplary leadership... through her exceptional teamwork and group contributions. "Her encouragement and communication skills provide a comfortable space for those around her to feel seen and heard. She is a problem-solver and unafraid to make mistakes. In unexpected challenges and situations, Autumn creates solutions rather than shying away from problems which encourages the students around her to never give up as well!" A future leader to watch, congratulations Autumn! Graeme Dingle Foundation Waikato #Leadership #Waikato #FutureLeader

Wednesday morning marked the start of a new build at Western Heights High School in Rotorua - a ceremonial site blessing and ‘sod turning’ on the site of the new Te Maru block. Following karakia led by Fosters People & Cultural Advisor Harley Raihe and Western Heights staff member Guy Ngatai, Te Maru student Emma Roe and Principal James Bracefield turned the first sod to officially start this significant project for the school. We look forward to delivering a modern, nurturing teaching and learning space for these special students. #NZConstruction #BayOfPlenty #NZSchool
