Energetic brand cheerleader, I love hearing people's stories and sharing them, either through words, images or video. Long time food trucker, long time content creator.

How the week is like a hand of poker. You bet on it before you go in (planning, goals etc) but you don't reeeally have too much control over it. Even though you like to think you do. You get the flop (mon-wed) - could go any which way but has a lot of bearing on how much you're wanting/needing out of the turn (thurs) Then Friday is the river, it could make or break your week but whatever happens you're goin with it! The dealer is always burning cards and you're always wondering what might have happened if you go that one instead. 😂 that's my new view on it and I'm betting real heavy on the turn today 🤞🏽

What do you do when you're in a rage? We're creatives in a shared space so we have to be aware of the energy we bring in. I know that because it says it on my office mates door so I really gotta clock myself. But I'm in a freakin MOOD this morning. We've got things on and I can't carry this around all day so what to do? First, very loud Natasha Bedingfield in the car - I didn't ask for it but the universe delivered and you just can't been mad at Natasha Bedingfield can you. Next, instead of getting more and more peeeeced off as little things don't go right (let's be real, I'm just looking for a reason to rip that zip off that bag. It's definitely the zip and not the fact that the bag is overloaded and it's nearly impossible to zip a heavy duty zip around a corner with one hand while you're filming snippets for a day in the life vids. Jokes. You're actually filming the roof. You dick) make fun of yourself. Stop saying GAHI'MSOANGRY in your head. Cos I mean. Well. Just makes sense doesn't it. ..these words are my own ARGH CURSE YOU NATASHA Avoid some jobs and read something nice. Drink some water Do the breathing. Shake it off, shake it off. Literally. Shake it! It's science. hahaha much better. Thanks Linkedin post!

We had a chat the other day about goals and where we want to be, where we're goin. We realised that we need to have about twice as much work (or turnover) to get to the first kinda goal. When we get there doin what we're doin, we'll be happy as. Trouble is, we can't get there doin what we're doin. We can't physically handle twice as much work. So that realisation had the potential to be quite demoralising. But! What we did instead was (have a meltdown) and *then* started trying to figure out how we can change things so that we can either handle twice as much work or create twice as much turn over with fewer hours. Step one. Get a wrangler. Step two. Clear the decks. Dedicate time to cleaning up. Step three. Time tracking. Get a picture of what's actually happening. Where are we leaking time? Step four. Create processes and templates for absolutely everything. Step 5? Watch this space. Or watch this nice picture of my washing basket.

Ever find yourself so far down the research hole you forgot to start the actual task and now it's due tomorrow?

I had a meeting this morning to talk about a Case Study I'm going to write as a blog for a client of ours, this pic has nothing to do with that, I just feel like these Linkedin posts at least need a pic of some kind right? This is Sunrise at Sunrise Hut. Or it might be sunset, but that's up to you. I'm excited about writing the Case Study because it means I get to research what makes a really good Case Study and I LOVE researching. It's my favourite part. I just have to watch out that I don't end up a Case Study specialist with no Case Study to show for it.

Helen Lea Wall and I have been talking about doing a podcast for years. We'd get into who we'd have on, what we'd talk about, get all excited and then get busy, forget. Until we'd have a casual chat with someone and talk about really interesting stuff that so many could relate to, then we'd think WE NEED TO DO A PODCAST, rinse and repeat. We had a team meeting last week and did some planning, talked about how the days might go and decided to have a quick catch up each morning and chat about what was on the cards for the day and clear any other yarns that we wanna have. Then we thought, why don't we just do that live? That's basically a podcast right. So for the last 3 days we've done a daily shitchat live on IG in the AM. We chucked a tripod in the doorway of the toilet and just started talking. Things we've learnt - it's not that hard - your set up probably already exists - managing your own energy to show up is the biggest part - helpful to have some topics to lean on - side quests are always excellent - many topics can be covered in a short amount of time - I am too loud no matter where the mic is - you learn really quickly and you learn things you can't think of when you're constantly planning. - the more you DO the more the ideas you get. - your office mates might like to use the toilet So watch us bungle our way through this and see where it goes. Thank goodness we don't have to talk about doing a podcast anymore 😂 You got something on your should list?

I hate public speaking. I ignored as many invitations as I could to this thing. Ps thanks for the invite. I'm an Upper Hutt bogan who went to school to eat his lunch and I had no business getting that job other than enthusiasm and a love for my town. This is Phil Gorman mayor of Brewtown Upper Hutt in Upper Hutt. His talk was awesome because he arrived Phil (mullet, sneaks and a plaid shacket) he spoke Phil (no bs) and he gave us insights and inspo that only he could. His chat was around revitalising the vibe of Upper Hutt after it was bypassed by the River Rd. First with the town centre and later with the fun-time beerhemoth that is Brewtown Upper Hutt, but here are the top things I took out of it 👇 - the importance of doing the hard thing (in this case public speaking) if he hadn't we would have really missed out on a genuinely uplifting and aspirational yarn - not needing to be perfect to be perfect for the job (formal education ain't everything) - he showed up and showed us that it doesn't really matter who you are or what your background is, if you've got love and enthusiasm you can really get shit done - that's what they've done at Brewtown to the tune of 10 million dollars a year going into the local economy! - Upper Hutt bogans can spot a Wellingtonian a mile off Thanks Phil that was bloody good! and thanks Hendrix Warren at The Horowhenua Company Ltd (THCL) for the great speaker pick!

Relate? What are your staying on task tips?

I'm so easily distracted. The last few days I've been working to a list and going from top to bottom even though I don't want to 'eat the frog' at the top 😂 it's been going great and I've gotten through many tasks just by diverting myself back to the list at the first sign of distraction. But just to illustrate how easily I'm derailed, I'm about to do a bit photo edit. It's the next thing on my list. Because it's editing I'm gunna be sitting awhile. So I got up to fill my water bottle. Realised I hadn't had breakfast, made eggs. Cleaned the kitchen. Took tea towels to the laundry. Had to put a load on. Back to my desk. Forgot the water bottle. Back to the kitchen. Forgot to clean the glad bags. Cleaned the glad bags. Not a euphemism. Ok back to my desk. What was I doing? Oh yea check my list. Photos. Ah editing! I can listen to a pod. Better grab my headphones. Go to my room, forget why I'm there. Potter around a bit. Go back to my desk. AH frick my headphones. Retrieve them from the bedroom. Get back to my desk. Open my phone to choose a pod. Find myself buried in one of my 5000 social accounts 20 mins later, realise I'm not meant to be there. What am I doing? Editing! Yes time to go. Man that was a whole thing, I should write a linkedin post. 👀 So this is me closing ALL my tabs and getting into the edit. Back to ticking things off the list.
