Congratulations to the 3 Waters treatment team on winning the IXOM operations award at last night's Water New Zealand Conference 👏 The Operations prize recognises an individual or organisations delivery of an initiative that is fundamental to keeping drinking water and/or wastewater treatment plants running. During the upgrade of the Mataura Water Treatment Plant, our 3 Waters treatment team, led by Daniel Wright, navigated several issues to get the plant to produce safe drinking water. This included many late nights and weekends working through issues and running through different scenarios to get everything running smoothly. This week, Community Development Team Lead Guillaume Willemse took the hot seat on Hokonui's Council Chit Chat segment to talk about Welcoming Week New Zealand— Te Wiki o Manaaki Aotearoa. Guillaume talked about all the ways our Council works with the community to make it a more welcoming place for newcomers. The Gore District has over 45 different ethnicities, and counting! Congratulations to our Arts & Heritage Curator Jim Geddes and Gallery Programme Officer Marcella who won The Hits Production Excellence Award at the Southern Creative Arts Awards at the weekend. The award acknowledges a person's dedication and skills in helping bring an artistic endeavor to the public. Marcella and Jim have been monumental in creating world-class arts and heritage facilities in the Gore District.
