  • As part of Greenhawk's Business for Good program, we're running a free workshop series for business owners in the construction industry—both those on the ground and behind the scenes. Builders, sparkies, landscapers, plumbers... up-skill and destress. By enhancing your knowledge of business finances, we aim to help you feel more confident in your business position, reduce your stress, and improve your mental wellbeing. The first workshop kicks off on 20 June in Wānaka. We'll be helping attendees create a cash flow forecast for their business so that they can feel confident making decisions like buying a vehicle, withdrawing funds, or covering their next tax payment. Spaces are limited to 10 participants so that we can help one-on-one. See our website for full details and to register, and please share with any trades-folk in your network who may like to attend. 🙋♂️🙋♀️

  • Every business has a financial story – a narrative woven through the numbers that speaks to its past, present and future. Understanding this story is a bit like learning a new language. It’s certainly the most important language you can learn as a business owner! Once you understand your story, you’re better placed to make strategic decisions and ensure the financial health of your business. Here Wānaka chief Darrin describes how to read your financial story and leverage it to drive your business forward. #businessperformance #businessfinance #businessowners

"Boyd products are so fabulous – look beautiful, like art in your office, so great at sound absorption and privacy. A key factor for us was the sustainability side and the fact that it is 70% recycled content – that’s huge” Kelly at Greenhawk Chartered Accountants.

  • Thanks for inviting us to chat about sustainability and carbon accounting, Parnell Business Association! We're lucky to be part of such a thriving community.

I am so proud of our Kelly Brown and her chat with Josephine Rudkin-Binks of the Parnell Business Association (Eco Bites) was truly inspiring! In just 17 minutes, she delivered valuable tips to kickstart the journey towards a sustainable future.   I think it's natural to feel daunted by the sheer scale of the climate crisis.  The enormity of the challenge can sometimes lead to binary thinking, where the problem appears insurmountable and our efforts futile.  Yet, we can do something, in the choices about where we do business. In every partnership, we have the power to effect change. By consciously selecting businesses that prioritise sustainability and the environment. Additionally, as Kelly wisely said, 'What we measure, we can manage”.  These words resonate deeply, reminding us that understanding our carbon footprint is the first step towards meaningful change.  By quantifying our impact on the environment, we empower ourselves to take action and make a positive difference. Get in touch with us if you would like any guidance to start your journey or would like to work with an accountant in the sustainability space. https://lnkd.in/gtyTh2Xf

  • The financial fraud landscape is bad and it's getting worse. Armed with AI, the tactics fraudsters are employing are becoming ever more sophisticated. Here are two recent examples from our network, plus four safeguards you can put in place in your business. 👉 One of our clients received a call from someone in the Bank of New Zealand fraud department. A quick check of the BNZ website confirmed the number the call came from was correct, but something felt off and the client hung up. Subsequent investigation by the bank revealed the initial call was from a fraudster using masking technology to impersonate the bank’s phone number. High tech nasty. 👉 Another client received an invoice from a supplier that looked legitimate but with a different bank account number than usual. It turned out to be a fraudster who had duplicated the supplier’s branding and sent a fake invoice. Close call. We don’t want you to fall foul of fraudulent schemes, so here are some safeguards you can put in place in your business: 1️⃣ When dealing with a bank, always call them using the number on their website. If they call you, either hang up and call back, or run through some verification of your own – just like they do with you. 2️⃣ Verify your suppliers’ bank account details by phone – especially when you notice that they have changed. 3️⃣ To enhance security for bank-to-bank payments, implement dual-authorisation for all payments. This means that two people from your business will need to approve each payment before it is processed. If one person’s security is compromised, you’re still safe. 4️⃣ Finally, if in doubt, don’t hit go on a payment. It’s seldom that the urgency to pay someone outweighs the importance of being safe and secure. #financialfraud #security #staysafe

  • At Greenhawk, getting B Corp certified was a huge achievement. They really don’t make it easy! But just because we reached our goal, doesn’t mean we stop there. We want to move with the world, adapt to meet new needs, and keep our place in a community of B Corps moving business forward. That’s why this year we’re planning more free training for our community, more carbon footprint calculations for our clients and more paid-volunteer projects for our team. Stick with us, a better future is this way. #bcorpmonth
