Why do we do what we do at House of Bricks? (Does that sound a little like a Dr Seuss book title?😆) This morning I wake to a beautiful Kaikoura view. That’s a definite motivation-waking to beautiful views around our country. When we head into schools with our 170,000 bricks we bring a unique excitement and spark a joy in students as they know for the day they get to ‘play’!! Through this opportunity we set up challenges that set the stage for specific learning and conversations. These opportunities are set up to encourage learnings, give them confidence in their learning abilities, inspire them to continue the journey of learning and growing both intellectually and as a whole person who is valued and able to contribute great ideas. I often receive cards and notes from students and one that’s always stuck with me was a student who wrote, ‘I’ve never been so inspired’ (I’ll find this later for you). After days in the office, tackling my to do list, battling imposter syndrome, and feeling like I’m going nowhere fast, I go to a school, work with teachers and students and come back energized and just know that I should NEVER give up. #teamsuccess #creativeeducation #teachertips #TeamDevelopment #UnleashYourCreativity #HouseOfBricks #inspiration #houseofbricksnz #teambuilding #creativity #lego #bricksinschools

Today students’ explored topics they already hold an expansive knowledge bank about. So what did they learn and why should teachers even engage in using our services? Through safe exploration and trialing these topics in an expressive way students can take risks, test their ideas on these topics and unlock new knowledge. Student’s experience achievement and joy in their learning. They are reinforced as valued learners that do know lots, that can do, and exhibit incredible talent in areas that matter most as humans…perseverance, curiosity, creativity, and more. At the end of every session (where possible) we get students & teachers to reflect on the days learning. Here’s what students from year 0 to 3 and their teachers said they learnt today; ➡️ How to make a pattern, that I can do a reflection and use symmetry, that I can learn from my friends, learn the word hypothesis, that my students don’t give up, how creative everyone is, everyone can use their imagination, that everyone loves LEGO bricks and more!!! Adding to that here is more learning that I saw happen… ➡️ the practice of mindfulness, developing fine motor skills, persistence and perseverance in action, collaboration and communication tested, sharing and helping others, engineering for shape and strength, maths and geometry - shapes, patterns, reflections, and multiple lines of symmetry, understanding of different sports, trailing and testing, adapting, and problem solving. 🤩🤩I look forward to heading back to this school next term to work with the senior students 🤩🤩 #teamsuccess #creativeeducation #UnleashYourCreativity #inspiration #teambuilding #houseofbricksnz #creativity

Why? Why should engage in play to facilitate an important business-changing meeting? Why should you engage your students in a workshop where they play with LEGO bricks? When we use our hands to assist us in our thinking we begin to engage and unlock brain power like never before. Take for example a child - full of energy and excitement, and all they do is play and ask why. ALL DAY LONG! Then they crash and need to sleep for 10-12 hours only and do it all again with enthusiasm. Now look at us adults - staring at a desk, screen, PowerPoint, and whiteboard willing our brains to come up with just 1 decent contribution or idea. Imagine the success of a scientist who was told they were not allowed to test their theory - there would be no success. By using our hands to think, explore ideas and learn we activate the 70-75% of the neurons that are in the brain connected to their hands. We engage and use more brain power if we allow our hands to help us think. We begin to unlock knowledge we didn't know we knew. Play is essential. It is essential so that we can think, test, and explore ideas. It is not just for children under 5, and children aged 5-18 to use during break times, and before and after school only. What would you prefer? 1) A class or team using 10% of their brain power 2) A class or team using 80% of their brain power I would love to know what you think on this topic, so please leave your thoughts, research in this area, and contributions in the comments.

Physics, teamwork, engineering, balance, problem-solving, persistence, patience, communication, testing, development, self-control, understanding of others, action and reaction, relationship development, hypothesis, and reflection is a summary of the learning that happened when we joined this fantastic Cubs group for the 6th year! When we join you with our brick programmes it is not all just fun and playing (that is what an outsider will see). But for teachers, leaders, and learners it is more than that. Are you a community group, school or corporate team looking for an exciting workshop to participate in? Are you wanting to break down barriers and learn about your students or your team from another perspective? Do you want to see your students or team engage together and take their learning and development of self to another level? Note: You do not have to start with our Zipline challenge - we have 20+ other activities we can organise for you, and are continually designing new programmes for custom learning and purposes. Contact us today to find out more. #teamsuccess #creativeeducation #legoseriousplayfacilitator #TeamDevelopment #UnleashYourCreativity #CommunityEvents #HouseOfBricks #inspiration #LEGOMastersNZ #bricksinschools #houseofbricksnz #teambuilding #creativity

Taking part in team building activities is a normal part of team life. Why? Because as team leaders/managers we want our team to be successful. We want everyone to feel valued in their role and want to continue being a part of and be committed to the business. By taking part in team building activities the team will work cohesively, outputs will be efficient, and turnover will be less. There are 2 different ways to approach team building and each has its advantages and contributes to the team's success in different ways. 1) Fun - arranging fun-focused activities to boost morale and give the team something common to talk about. 2) Educational - providing events where team members will learn more about who they are and in turn learn about their colleagues. Or learn about skills relevant to their position. Education empowers and gives confidence to a team. Are there more ways to approach team building? We would love to hear your point of view, research, and contributions to this topic. I’ll talk more in future posts about what we do at House of Bricks to contribute to the team-building sector in both the fun and educational approaches.

LEGO Masters NZ feels like ages ago! It was filmed in March 2022, aired in April 2023, and a rerun aired in March this year. What have we done since then, and what got us there? Check out the article below written by interviewer Melissa Rekve. Do you have questions? Leave them in the comments, we are happy to answer. https://lnkd.in/gmsQhBNZ

When you have tackled the serious and done the hard work, it is important to take time and just have fun! 8 hours of conferences/meetings, power points and talks is exhausting. And that is where our team and bricks come into play - to bring the team together and build team camaraderie. 1. Use our bricks to break up a long day - bring energy and excitement to the team. 2. Celebrate the completion of a team day - appreciate the commitment and support of the team. 3. Or launch the day and set the tone of creativity, conversation, and collaboration - inspire and build confidence in your team. Our event leaders will plan a session to suit your team and your objectives. Alternatively, try a completely different focus and use our SERIOUS PLAY workshops as the foundation and learning focus for your next team day. This process will ensure everyone has an equal voice, and the team end the day with a commitment and set of simple guiding principles to guide team life post-workshop. We are here to help - help with fun, or help with strategy and deeper team building - and look forward to hearing from you. #teamsuccess #legoseriousplayfacilitator #TeamDevelopment #UnleashYourCreativity #HouseOfBricks #UnleashCreativity #inspiration #teambuilding #creativity #competition
