Thank you, Ambassador Viktor Vavricka! Collaborating with the CEFGroup and contributing to such an important discussion on AI and sustainable finance was an honor. I fully agree—the financial sector is key in ensuring a transparent and effective transition to a low-carbon economy. AI tools will be crucial in improving the credibility of climate-related disclosures as we move forward. Excited for what’s to come! SFI Swiss Finance Institute UZH Department of Finance
Swiss Ambassador to New Zealand, Cook Islands, Fiji, Tonga, Tuvalu / Amb. des. to Niue, Samoa / Consul General to American Samoa
The Paris Agreement underscores the crucial role of the financial sector in driving an effective transition to a low-carbon economy🌱♻️. Switzerland🇨🇭 and New Zealand 🇳🇿 are emerging as leaders in fostering optimal conditions for sustainable private sector operations, exemplified by the implementation of frameworks such as TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures) reporting. Ensuring the credibility of corporate disclosures is essential, and AI is offering powerful tools to enhance the accuracy and reliability of this information. Special thanks to Markus Leippold (Universität Zürich | University of Zurich , SFI Swiss Finance Institute), the Climate and Energy Finance Group (CEFGroup) at the University of Otago, Dr. Sebastian Gehricke, Helen Roberts and Isabella Yoon for collaborating on this insightful event exploring the intersection of sustainable finance and AI. 💡 Impact Investing: Profit with Purpose 🌍💼 With escalating concerns about scarcity and inequality 🌱, investors are increasingly looking to make a positive impact while earning returns 📈. Impact investing channels capital into ventures delivering both social, environmental, and financial gains. Tools like the Impact Multiple of Money (IMM) are helping quantify these benefits 💰➡️🌿, estimating the social and environmental value of every dollar invested 🧮. Key players like the The Rise Fund and The Rockefeller Foundation are driving this forward, refining how we measure impact 📏🤝. 🔑 The goal? Aligning investments with purpose and profit. #ImpactInvesting #Sustainability #FinanceForGood 🌍💼 👉 Here's an interesting read: https://lnkd.in/gVSg6k5

Side by side, doing the impactful mahi. Like we've always done, and will continue to do - with even greater alignment to grow the impact and responsible investing market in Aotearoa NZ. We're in this together, and better together - Impact Investing Network and Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA)
The Impact Investing Network (IIN) and Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) are excited to announce that our boards have been in exploratory discussions on deepening integration between the two organisations. The aim is to have the IIN sitting as an integrated portfolio within RIAA by mid-2025. IIN Board Chair Alastair Rhodes welcomed this initiative and said: “The Aotearoa NZ investment ecosystem is rapidly maturing in terms of its understanding and adoption of impact/sustainable/responsible investing." He added, "The IIN has always worked closely with RIAA given our similar priorities. We now believe the time is right to explore greater integration with RIAA to accelerate further the profile and market size of responsible/sustainable/impact investments in Aotearoa NZ.” Dean Hegarty, Co-CEO of RIAA added “There’s no question we need to develop better pathways and drive more capital to impact investments, and we see enormous potential to unlock new opportunities through this partnership. While there are obvious operational efficiencies, this integration will better align New Zealand’s impact ecosystem with the broader investment market. It will streamline efforts, strengthen workplan delivery across both groups and bridge the gap between impact opportunities and mainstream investment, with a goal to deliver real-world outcomes.” Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/db-nCzTe
