It's easy to get overwhelmed by all the research out there. But there's one incredibly simple way to make it easier: use your eyes! As visual beings, we all process visualizations much faster than written text. It's how we're built. 👀 Try using visual literature maps to understand research faster. Here are six ways to do it: 1. See how a field evolves Review a Litmap for your research so you can easily understand it from a bird's-eye-view. 2. Spot important papers fast Easily distinguish articles relevant to you by sorting visualizations based on citation count, date, etc. 3. Find high-impact papers It can be hard to tell apart a high-impact paper from a long list of titles. Use Litmaps to quickly spot them (hint: look at the top left of your Litmap!) 4. Tell apart citations versus references Clearly see what is citing what by looking at their connections in a Litmap. 5. Visualize your own library Upload the articles you already have to see what you're missing 6. Find research gaps Visualizations are paramount in spotting research gaps, and clearly communicating these to other researchers. How do you use visualization in your research? _________________ We're on a mission to help accelerate impactful science. Reading the latest research is essential - but there's often too much to read and not enough time. Instead of trying to read everything, focus on the articles most relevant to your research. Litmaps Monitor tells you when papers on YOUR topic come out - based on how those papers connect to your own research. It keeps you up-to-date without bogging you down with hundreds of papers. Thanks for sharing this excellent tutorial of how to use it, Muneeb. See below!

How can you be sure you didn't miss any key studies in your literature review? You may have collected dozens or even hundreds of papers on your topic. But can you be certain you didn't miss something important? There's a powerful, hugely under-rated way to do this: Search USING your existing library. You can use Litmaps to search using all your existing papers as an input - and Litmaps will find any additional, connected work. This helps you discover anything you may have overlooked, including important studies. Here's how it works: 1. Create a Map Import the articles you already have into Litmaps, either with a file, by list, or Zotero. 2. Run Explore Run the Explore algorithm to find relevant papers based on connections to your papers. 3. Review article suggestions Review the suggested articles and see if any are important to your topic that you maybe missed. You can see the metadata and source papers for each one. 4. Target your results For example: set the date filter to after 2018, to see if you’re missing any recent work. You can also filter by keywords, journals or authors. 5. Export the papers Now that you’ve found what you needed, you can export the articles out of Litmaps, or use Zotero sync to do it automatically. Do you have another way to check what work you missed? Share with other researchers! _________________ Want to learn more? JOIN OUR UPCOMING WEBINAR HERE: https://lu.ma/h0tdj94o
