Government announcing a commitment to continue the Apprenticeship Boost to key sectors is great, however, maybe a little out of touch with the costs employers incur in industry training. Lee Marshall, MTA CEO, provides a frank overview on how much financial support employers need to reduce our reliance on migration. >> https://lnkd.in/g9jTMCnJ #mediarelease #government #apprenticeships #employment #automotive

It’s good to hear that an increase in police foot patrols in Wellington (and Auckland) is having a positive impact in crime prevention. However, more can be done. MTA is keeping up our call for preventative patrolling of at-risk service stations, especially at night to keep staff and community safe. #crime #safety #community #police

We are working hard to get crime protection for service stations high on the Government’s priorities. This week our CE Lee Marshall and Head of Communications Simon Bradwell, had a positive, productive meeting with Sunny Kaushal from the Ministerial Advisory Group for retail crime. Sunny is very supportive of MTA’s work, and more importantly understands service stations’ concerns. Although MTA is not on the advisory group, we will be working closely with Sunny – a tireless and committed champion for retail safety. #crime #government #retail #servicestation

MTA and a taskforce of 20 automotive industry organisations, are showing a united front to restore automotive training to the industry and help tackle the issue of staff shortages. A submission to Minister Penny Simmonds has a clear message – the Motor Industry Training Organisation (MITO) must be an industry-led, industry owned entity. Read what MTA Head of Advocacy James McDowall has to say on the matter and how we propose a way forward >> https://lnkd.in/gJJHq5J8. #automotive #training #industry #hirelocal #apprentices’

MTA is committed to keeping service station businesses, workers and customers safe from crime. MTA’s Head of Communications Simon Bradwell recently met with NZ Police Minister Mark Mitchell to discuss MTA’s Action Plan [https://lnkd.in/gcaYENmy] and hear the Government’s plans and actions to protect service stations across the country. We’d like to thank the Minister for giving us and this important issue his valuable time and attention. >>https://lnkd.in/gi5u32NF #nzpolice #servicestations #crime #nzpoliceminister #nzbusiness #safety

Enough is enough. Service stations provide an essential community service, but they and their workers are frequent victims and targets of crime. MTA has put together a Position Statement and 10-Point Action Plan for Government and agencies to address this crime and work towards keeping hard-working Kiwis safe.
