It can be difficult to entertain the idea of making system or process changes when you know there are guaranteed changes to legislation coming, and businesses in New Zealand may be adopting a "wait and see" approach as they consider current compliance and potential changes to the Holidays Act. We don’t quite know what the changes will look like - or when they’ll take effect. One thing’s for sure though, your current responsibilities under the Holidays Act 2003 are still in play. If you have any payroll or compliance issues, ignoring the situation and hoping for the best (or hoping they’ll be sorted with your new system configuration) isn’t the answer - they’ll just follow you into the new framework, likely making things more complicated when it comes to implementing new system and process changes.
