"To encourage, foster, improve and educate in all aspects of arboriculture throughout New Zealand."
About us
The New Zealand Arboricultural Association (NZ Arb) was established in 1989 in response to increasing demand for a national body to represent professional and non-professional people involved in New Zealand tree care and the tree industry. In 1996, NZ Arb joined the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA). OUR VISION The vision of NZ Arb is to represent the arboricultural community and make it the primary organisation for tree care and to maintain relevancy to the Association’s members. OUR MISSION The Mission of NZ Arb is to encourage, foster, improve and educate in all aspects of arboriculture throughout New Zealand In addition, the NZ Arb Association is proud to advance the mission of the ISA Through research, technology and education, promote the professional practice of arboriculture and foster a greater public awareness of the benefits of trees. OUR OBJECTIVES NZ Arb intends to be the foremost professional organisation for arborists in New Zealand, by being the primary authority for arboriculture and the leading source for arboricultural information for arborists, governing bodies, and the general public. These are as follows: • to set acceptable standards for the industry • to assist and promote education • to encourage tree planting, protection and preservation • to circulate information on arboriculture • to approve arborists working to acceptable standards

📢 NZ Arb and the Skills Shortage Working Group have been working hard to ensure our industry has a voice in the ongoing vocational training reforms, including the disestablishment of Te Pūkenga. These changes could significantly affect how Arboricultural programs are managed, supported, and funded across New Zealand. While we’ve had opportunities to participate in the consultation process, the potential impact on our industry is already being felt. We're working tirelessly to understand the full extent of these changes and their effects on our sector. In the coming days, we’ll be reaching out to both members and non-members with updates and ways you can get involved. Your support will be crucial as we come together to protect the future of our industry and ensure we're putting our best foot forward. In the coming days we will be reaching out to industry with information about how you may be able to help. keep an eye out here for more +

🌳 Industry Collaboration in Action 🙌🌳 Here's a Tuesday tale worth celebrating - a fantastic example of how collaboration within our industry can create powerful, lasting impact. You will remember the brand-new Husqvarna T542i XP Top Handle Arborist Battery Chainsaw donated our major tree climbing partner Husqvarna New Zealand, for the Sempervirens Trust Auction at the recent NZ Arb Industry Awards Dinner. So, after a spirited bidding war, another NZ Arb sponsor, Karl and Lisa from Arborlab Consultancy Services Limited, secured the saw with an incredibly generous $3,000 bid ...but the story doesn’t end there! Karl and Lisa then generously donated the saw to Wintec - Waikato Institute of Technology, where it will be used to train future arborists. This wonderful gesture not only supported the Sempervirens Trust but also reinforced the importance of educating and empowering the next generation of arborists who will continue to shape and grow our industry. A shining example of how two key industry supporters, Husqvarna and Arborlab, stepped up once again to support both the arb community and our future professionals. We are so grateful for sponsors like Husqvarna and Arborlab, not to mention all the other champions, sponsors and investors in our industry. 📸 Phil (Husqvarna), Karl (Arborlab), Rob (Wintec), Lisa (Arborlab), and Steve (Husqvarna) #Arboriculture #IndustryCollaboration #NZArb #SempervirensTrust #Wintec #Husqvarna #Arborlab #FutureArborists #CommunitySupport
