We’re celebrating a double-win! We’ve digitised all our contracts for interest free payment purchases for our retail customers. This means no more old school paper contracts, faster processing times and easier access to signed contracts. And the other win? The infographic says it all. Thanks to this change, we expect to save more than 135,000 sheets of paper and 54,000 litres of water every year.

We’re pleased to extend our partnership with BMS-IT Ltd so we can help even more Kiwi businesses with the disposal of redundant electronic equipment. We already work closely with IT asset disposition and remarketing services provider BMS-IT to facilitate the collection of our Enterprise and Public Sector customers’ redundant mobiles and tablets. With the expansion of the scheme, all electronic equipment and electronic waste (e-waste) will be accepted, which is passed on to BMS-IT for processing and data wiping at their solar powered facility in Auckland. The majority of items are re-purposed through BMS’s remarketing function with the remaining materials recycled as e-waste, minimising waste to landfill. As part of our Sustainability Kaupapa, we are pleased to be partnering with Echo on minimising our electronic waste (e-waste) footprint and reducing waste to landfill by reusing, reselling, and recycling end-of-life network equipment and technology.   Limiting e-waste is one of our top five most material ESG issues and we’ve long had a goal to recycle at least 95% of network waste.   Over the past year we’ve been working to further mature our processes, particularly with several legacy technology decommissioning projects underway. We are delighted to share that Kieran Byrne has been promoted into the role of Chief Technology Officer to lead our mobile and fixed networks, cybersecurity, IT operations, and wholesale division, following Tony Baird stepping down after 14 years. Announcing Kieran’s appointment, Jason Paris, says: “Kieran is an engineer at heart and brings to the role expertise in setting and executing strategy, driving customer and commercial outcomes, and strengthening key partner relationships. He has deep industry knowledge and will be supported by an incredibly strong technical leadership team. “While we are sad to see Tony depart the business, we know we are in great hands with Kieran at the helm.” The appointment is effective 1 October, with Tony transitioning into an advisory role from this date. Congrats to our Deputy CFO and all-round superstar Michelle Young for being named Emerging Financial Leader of the Year at the CFO Summit Awards 2024, held last night! This award recognises, celebrates and encourages the exceptional finance talent of professionals under the age of 40 years. We can confirm that Michelle is exceptional in many ways! Her professionalism and knowledge is world-class, and she’s also an awesome colleague and champion for her team.  Some of the One New Zealand finance team was stoked to be there to support her win against some tough competition. Nau mai anō Rob Selwyn! We're so pleased to welcome you back to the whānau as Māori Engagement Lead, Pou Hononga. Rob (Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Whakatōhea) is now leading our Whārikihia Māori strategy, and supporting commitments made within our Honouring the Principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi policy.    Inspired by the traditional whāriki (woven mat), Whārikihia was first introduced in 2020 and represents the collaborative effort of weaving various strands together – relationships, knowledge and resources – to build a solid foundation for shared success.
