🚧 Building a More Efficient Future in Aotearoa 🛠️ The Government is progressing work on a new opt-in self-certification scheme for low-risk residential building work. This initiative is designed for qualified building professionals and accredited companies, aiming to reduce the need for third-party reviews by Building Consent Authorities (BCAs). As client-side project managers, we know that quality control is key. In our experience, contractors don't always get it right the first time — sometimes they need to come back to fix a few things. Some contractors are definitely better than others, and we think the new scheme could benefit from recognising that. 💡 Our Suggestion: What if there was a pathway for contractors to earn the right to self-certify? 🛠️ Contractors could undergo a certification process where they receive checks on a certain number of jobs. ✅ If these checks are 100% correct, they could then receive the green light to self-certify on similar jobs. 🔍 Follow this up with periodic audits to maintain high standards. We believe this could help balance efficiency with quality assurance, ensuring that the new system works effectively for all stakeholders. Let’s build a more efficient system together! 🏡 Read more about it here:

https://lnkd.in/gjk2kusf Following on from our recent discussion on the benefits of renewable energy integration into commercial buildings, this news about the $1m resilience fund for Northland’s electricity infrastructure comes at a crucial time for our region. The collapse of the Transpower pylon earlier this year highlighted the fragility of our energy grid and the importance of future-proofing. This new initiative, funded by Transpower and Omexom, aims to bolster the resilience of Northland's electricity network. While infrastructure improvements are critical, this also underscores the need for commercial property owners to consider sustainable and independent energy solutions, such as solar power and battery storage. At Project Apōpō, we’re proud to be working with businesses to enhance energy efficiency and develop renewable energy strategies that not only reduce operational costs but also contribute to greater energy security. Let's work together to build a more resilient and sustainable future for Northland. #energyresilience #projectapopo #northlandnz

At Project Apōpō, we're excited about the potential of distributed solar power in urban areas. New research highlights how integrating solar panels into city buildings could address both energy crises and disaster preparedness. Key Benefits: • Increased energy security during outages • Improved disaster resilience for communities • Efficient use of existing urban infrastructure • Decentralised power generation closer to consumers By utilising rooftops of schools, public buildings, and homes, we can create a network of solar-powered communities without sacrificing farmland. This approach not only cuts emissions but also enhances our ability to adapt to climate change impacts. Let's reimagine our cities as power generators! What are your thoughts on urban solar integration? #SustainableEnergy #UrbanResilience #SolarPower #ClimateAction

🌍 Exciting News for Sustainability in New Zealand! 🚗 🚀 Big strides for sustainability in Aotearoa! New Zealand’s first national tyre recycling scheme, Tyrewise, is officially rolling out, making it easier for everyone to responsibly dispose of end-of-life tyres. 🌿 Here’s how it works: Tyrewise enables tyre retailers, fleet operators, and the public to drop off old tyres at registered collection sites, free of charge. The scheme is funded by a small stewardship fee added to every newly imported tyre, which helps build recycling infrastructure, support research, and develop new markets for recycled tyre materials, such as rubber and steel. 🛠️🔄 Why is this important? New Zealand generates around 6 million waste tyres annually, and most have ended up in landfills, stockpiled, or illegally dumped, posing significant environmental hazards. With Tyrewise, we’re turning this waste into a valuable resource, promoting circular economy principles, and reducing pollution and carbon footprint. 🌏💚 This initiative reflects a significant step towards sustainable waste management and aligns with New Zealand’s commitment to environmental protection and innovation. Let’s support this move towards a greener future by choosing responsible disposal practices. 🚮♻️ Learn more and find your nearest collection site: 🌱 #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalResponsibility #NewZealand #Recycling #GreenInitiatives 🔗
