Congratulations Massey University researchers on Marsden Fund success! Massey University researchers have secured one Fast-Start and five Standard Marsden grants for 2024. The awarded projects explore topics across psychology, natural and social sciences, management and environmental studies, showcasing the breadth and depth of Massey University's research expertise. Congratulations to Wendy Gannon and Michelle Fischer! 👏 Both were finalists for the IESANZ - The Lighting Society (New Zealand Chapter) Student Lighting Design Competition, which is open to final-year students in the Lighting Programme at Massey University, taught by Domenico De Vincentis and myself. For their final project, students were tasked with designing the lighting for a fictitious Museum of Contemporary Art. Both Wendy and Michelle showcased exceptional creativity and skill in their designs. 🎉 I’m delighted to announce that Wendy Gannon is the winner! Wendy will receive her certificate at next year’s IESANZ NZ Lighting Awards. 🎉 Check out some of Wendy and Michelle's outstanding work in the images below! 🌟 Wendy's beautifully crafted designs are showcased in two example images, while Michelle's meticulous attention to detail is evident in her sample page, which features snippets of her plans alongside an overview of the facade. I am excited to introduce my new PhD student, Vincent Qian, to the School of Built Environment - Massey University and our People Research Group at Massey University! Vincent is a highly skilled and dedicated researcher working on an impactful project titled, "Designing Age-Friendly Communities: Integrating Adaptive Reuse with Elderly Care Models." His research will explore ways to create supportive, age-friendly spaces through innovative reuse practices and a strong focus on elderly care. A big thank you to the co-supervisors, Dr Claire Flemmer, Dr. Vishal Kumar, and Dr Kelvin Zuo, for their great support. We are looking forward to seeing the positive contributions Vincent will bring to this critical field.

It was wonderful to host Cherie Todd-Williamson and Farzana Gounder from GRS at our Auckland campus! I had the chance to introduce them to some of our talented PhD students and dedicated staff in the School of Built Environment - Massey University. We had a great time sharing ideas, exploring ways to collaborate, and building stronger connections to work together to support our PhD students on their research journeys!
