Viruses are a persistent threat to human health, with over 220 known to cause death and disease. Despite the scale of the problem, there are approved antiviral treatments for only 12 of these. New Zealand-based biotech company Kimer Med is on a mission to change that by developing broad-spectrum antivirals, which aim to combat a wide range of viral infections and protect against future pandemics. Despite its small size, Kimer Med is achieving big things from its headquarters in Nelson. 📣 🛫 Flight testing update - Campaign 2-2 🛫 📣 In late July, we conducted three flights, the last of which reached Mach 0.92 (967 km/h) and 50,000 ft (15.1 km). That is more than three times faster and higher than we have ever flown before! This was another significant step forward for the Mk-II on its path to becoming the highest and fastest flying aircraft ever to take off and land on a runway. It sets us up to fly supersonic in the next test campaign! This was the first campaign intended to explore the vehicle's performance, but it is just a glimpse of what is to come and what "building an aircraft with the performance of a rocket" really means. We took this opportunity to describe in detail why this philosophy is so important to us, how it enables rapid and efficient learning, and where we are going from here. Check out the blog along with some photos from the campaign. https://lnkd.in/e9Mw95NS

Next up on the #seetomorrowfirst podcast, we were joined by Mary Vance, founder and Executive Director of Cemplicity — a global SaaS platform for the healthcare industry. Cemplicity provides real-time patient feedback to improve clinical outcomes. It’s about using software for improvement, not just measurement. Mary founded the company alongside Nick MacDonald in 2011, and it’s now serving customers in 8 countries and more than 3000 healthcare facilities globally. It was fascinating to hear Mary’s story, and to learn from her twenty-year journey scaling Cemplicity from New Zealand. Her approach to funding, governance, and setting up in-market was so clear-eyed and filled with insight. It’s available now whereever you get your podcasts. Enjoy!
