Did you know that SIPpro (Structural Insulated Panels) can dramatically reduce labor time in a house build? With large format panels up to 7.32m long, we can create entire walls right in our factory. This allows a house to be assembled in just 2-3 days—transforming a concrete pad into an almost weather-tight structure, with only the windows left to install. The reduced labor and increased speed are just a few of the many benefits of SIPs. In construction, time is money, and the faster we can get a home weather-tight, the less risk there is of delays due to weather. That’s why SIPs are a game-changer for efficiency and cost savings.

The Facts about SIPpro Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) To see an article published in ‘Stuff’ on the 3rd of September 2024, about Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) with misleading opinions from a company representative (selling an alternative product with a blatant commercial bias), is both disappointing and concerning. It’s important to report the real facts about SIPs accurately and impartially. Non-Toxic Insulation The insulation we use is expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam; it contains only 2% plastic. It is not toxic. Its full of air. That’s why its such a good insulator. It is fully recyclable at the end of its useful life and easily recycled. EPS is non-toxic and chemically inert in its built form. In fact, EPS is probably the easiest, most recycled insulation, reused in the country. Using the least amount of energy to do so. SIPs do not absorb water and are airtight. Traditional timber framed homes in New Zealand are vulnerable to moisture entering the building envelope and condensation occurring on colder surfaces within the envelope can cause decay and mould. In normal SIP house installation, quality structural OSB has very low vapour permeability, it will not allow water vapour to pass through it into the wall cavity and insulation. All internal panel joints and junctions are sealed with airtight tape to prevent moisture entering the structure. Mechanical heat recovery ventilation systems maintaining healthy levels of relative humidity to the interior of a house providing high-performance, energy-efficient, healthy homes that are badly needed in New Zealand are commonplace in SIP houses. Sustainable SIPs As SIP manufacturers and concerned citizens of our planet. We are actively improving our products with sustainable innovations that are good for our environment and lower our embodied carbon. With technological advancements taking place, the EPS industry is working hard to decarbonize the material currently used. While we use more recycled material than ever before, it is in combination with the CO2 sequestered in every m2 of our Oriented Strand board, and the huge energy savings achieved over a SIP building’s lifetime, that mitigate the embodied carbon of our panel. Build the right way Like all construction there is a right way and a wrong way to build. The SIPpro system has been independently tested to exceed New Zealands Building Code requirements. Designing and building in accordance with the SIPpro Design and Installation manuals is the right way. Following correct procedures ensures a quality finished building that will stand the test of time. At SIPSOLUTIONS we manufacture the energy-efficient and sustainable SIPpro Structural Insulated Panel (SIPs) to the highest standards right here in Aotearoa. Winter is when the true cost of heating our homes hits hardest. Even newly built timber-framed homes can struggle with air leaks, heat loss, thermal bridging, and moisture issues. We’ve heard from many homeowners who built with traditional timber framing and insulation, only to find their homes colder than expected and their power bills much higher. The common sentiment? "I wish we had known about SIP panels before building." If you're planning to build, take the time to research and explore the benefits of SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels). SIPpro panels are the foundation of energy-efficient homes, offering continuous airtight insulation that’s not only easy to install but also saves thousands on heating and cooling costs over the life of your home. At Sipsolutions, we're passionate about sharing the advantages of energy-efficient construction. We provide clear, science-backed, practical advice for anyone looking to build better. If you're aiming for an energy-efficient, healthier, warmer, and low-emissions home, reach out to us. We're here to help you build smarter.
