“Rule your mind or it will rule you.” HORACE Most of the time us human beings operate sensibly and cooperatively. However, when lonely, stressed, anxious, depressed, envious, self-doubting, or wound-up by others, even the most intelligent and most capable humans can go wild and dangerously off-track. Our mind contains its own pharmacy that can cook up mind altering adrenalin, steroids and psychotic drugs that can turn us into crazy creatures. Our imagination and unconscious can literally take over and as mentioned in a previous post, we can start creating our own mental movies, fantasies, and destructive self talk. We can even breach our own personal values. None of us are immune. We can become a perpetrator, a victim or a self-seeking rescuer. A parent or a child. Greedy and overly entitled. A Road Rager. An excessive show off. Even much worse, especially if fuelled by alcohol or recreational party pills. This morning our Auckland office had the pleasure of welcoming back Geoff Lorigan CNZM to join the team for the next four weeks. Our first order of business was to hear about SmartLeader and Institute for Strategic Leadership's expansion into the UK, followed by some stories, of which Geoff has been waiting to share with the team.
