We are honoured to have been acknowledged at Te Hāpai Hapori | Spirit of Service Awards last week. The Driver Licensing Improvement Programme, a kaupapa we are a partner in, won both Te Tohu mō ngā Hua E Pai Ake Ana | The Better Outcomes Award and Te Tohu a te Pirimia | The Prime Minister’s Award. The programme works to reduce barriers to gaining a licence, making the licensing process more accessible and equitable. It enables more people to become safe licenced drivers and opens doors to employment, healthcare, and education opportunities. It's great that this kaupapa has been recognised for the amazing outcomes it provides to whānau across Aotearoa. We share this honour with our partners NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi, Ministry of Social Development (MSD), Ministry of Transport (New Zealand) - Te Manatū Waka, NZ Police, and ACC New Zealand. Members of our Insights team presented a new Climate Resilience Web App at the Climate Change and Business Conference in Tāmaki Makaurau this week. The conference was an opportunity for business, government, and civil society to tackle the tough questions our country is facing, and to share innovative thinking and new ideas about how we can collectively accelerate emissions reductions while adapting to the growing impacts of climate change. The impact of climate change is undeniably significant and while all New Zealanders will feel the impact of these climate hazards, the ability of communities to adapt and their resilience will vary considerably across the motu. In particular, hapori Māori face heightened risks due to their geographical locations, the industries they work in, and current socio-economic circumstances. “Te Puni Kōkiri was invited to the conference to present our new Climate Resilience Web Application, created to support hapori Māori in building resilience against climate change” says Matilde Figuracion, Principal Advisor Insights. “It was also an opportunity to inform peers of our two recent reports ‘Understanding climate hazards for hapori Māori – insights for policy makers’ and ‘Understanding the exposure of climate hazards to Māori-owned businesses’.” 🔗 Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/gxJXWwKk
