Meet one of our key team members in Hawke’s Bay, Nuclear Medicine Physician Dr Rachelle Steyn. Rachelle is part of the team at our brand-new Molecular Imaging and Therapy clinic opening November 2024 in Hastings.   Rachelle earned her Fellowship in Nuclear Medicine from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, Following this she completed a Master’s in Nuclear Medicine, a Diploma in Health Science Education, and an MSc in Advanced Oncology from the University of Ulm, Germany.   After moving to New Zealand in 2021, she became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian Association of Nuclear Medicine Specialists.   Rachelle’s vision for Nuclear Medicine in New Zealand is to see it expand, grow and flourish so that all New Zealanders have access to high quality general Nuclear Medicine Services and in particular access to PET-CT and Theranostics. Prostate Cancer Awareness, also commonly known as Blue September is recognised each year in September. Prostate cancer is one of the most diagnosed cancers among men in New Zealand. Blue September serves as important reminder of the value of early detection and regular health check-ups. The Prostate Cancer Foundation NZ - Te Kāhui Mate Pukupuku Repe Tātea o Aotearoa Manatōpū recommends that men over 50 (40+ if known family history) be tested at least every one to two years. Over the weekend, we hosted the annual Canopy Healthcare Clinical Day conference at the QT Hotels and Resorts in Auckland, bringing together our Radiologists and Oncologists from across the group. Canopy Imaging has successfully implemented an instantaneous fracture detection AI system called Gleamer BoneView to assist in the diagnosis of fractures. We were excited to welcome our first patients today at our brand new and inaugural Canopy Imaging clinic in Auckland located at 50 Greville Road! We are excited to welcome Felicity Bonham to the Canopy Healthcare team as our new Engagement Manager.   Flic is responsible for the development of our business and services across Canopy Healthcare and she brings with her a wealth of healthcare experience from both clinical and commercial organisations.   Flic began her healthcare journey as a nurse and then transitioned into various healthcare marketing, strategy, innovation and partnership roles, driven by her passion for ensuring New Zealanders have a positive healthcare experience. We're excited to announce the official opening of our first Canopy Imaging clinic, Te Mauora, in Kerikeri. The Hon. Dr. Shane Reti, Minister of Health, was joined by local MP Grant McCallum, Deputy Mayor Kelly Stratford, Kaumatua Kipa Munro of Ngāti Rehia, and other distinguished guests at the official opening.   This state-of-the-art clinic brings world-class diagnostic imaging services to the Far North, featuring the northern most MRI in New Zealand. Now, life-saving scans and diagnostics are closer to home for our patients.
