This Mental Health Awareness Week, we are proud to recognize and support the incredible work of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand. This year's theme, "Community is what we create together," has been a meaningful reminder for us to reflect on the power of connection and gratitude within our team.   At Triton, we’ve created a "Hear the Good" gratitude wall, where employees across our business have shared what they are grateful for. It’s been inspiring to see so many uplifting messages that highlight the strength and support we have within our community.   We’ve also had some fun, mindful moments with our colouring competition, and provided access to TELUS Health webinars, giving our team tools and resources to support their mental well-being.   Together, we continue to foster a workplace where everyone feels valued and supported, and we’re excited to keep building on this foundation of community and care. 💜 #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #HearTheGood #Wellbeing #Gratitude #CommunityMatters #TELUSHealth

Caring for the mental health of our teams At Triton Hearing, we believe that a thriving workplace begins with a commitment to the well-being of our people. We recognize that mental health is just as important as physical health and we're proud to have enabled over 35 of our People Leaders to complete the St John Mental Health First Aid course. The course has helped individuals build their own mental fitness as well as being able to assist others. The course covers: • Understanding the relationship between mental health and distress • Understanding ways to manage their own mental health • Know and use the “Listen to your HEAD” Action Plan in a non-crisis situation • Identify when a person may be experiencing a mental health crisis • Identify agencies who can help and /or know how to get immediate assistance if necessary • Understanding the importance of self-care “I found the course provided very practical guidance on how to approach these conversations in the workplace and demystified common misconceptions about how to discuss mental health. After completing the course I feel better equipped to spot the early signs of mental health struggles so I can confidently support my colleagues.” Megan Corry - Region Manager By offering our team members the opportunity to complete this course, we aim to build a network of confident and compassionate workplace first aiders who can spot the early signals of mental health struggles, ensuring timely and effective support for their colleagues. This proactive approach not only enhances the overall well-being of our team but also reinforces our commitment to creating a resilient and empathetic workplace culture.

Clinical Audiologist @ Triton Hearing | Masters in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology

Today brought an unexpectedly delightful moment in my life as an audiologist. I was meeting with a 69-year-old gentleman who was eager to upgrade his hearing aids. As we discussed his options, I asked about his color preference. He revealed something that made me smile: six years ago, when he first got hearing aids, he had wanted pink, but it wasn’t available. His face lit up when I told him that pink was now an option. It’s incredible how something as small as the color of a hearing aid can brighten someone's day and make such a positive impact. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do. Thanks Phonak NZ for the latest Lumity colour choices!!!

Supporting Our New Parents As part of our “Sounds Good Perks” employee benefits package we are able to truly support our new parents. In addition to returning to work gradually, after six months back at work our new parents receive a financial payment to further support their growing family! The importance of partners support and spending time as a family is also recognised through two weeks paid partners leave. Our Papamoa Clinic Manager, Caitlin, returned to work earlier this year when her son, Freddie, turned one and this is what she had to share about the support she received. I appreciated the flexibility in regard to choosing my hours and which days I work. This has made it a lot easier to work around daycare. I was also given flexibility in terms of how I organise my diary. I was able to change my base clinic so that I can be closer to home – while still keeping my position as Clinic Manager. I felt supported by my manager and team in terms of getting back up to speed on the new Triton Hearing processes, etc. after my year off. It was great to still be included in our team social activities during my parental leave. This was a nice way to stay in touch with everyone and meet new team members. No matter the role at Triton Hearing, all permanent employees receive the same parental support benefits along with our suite of other perks.
