I've loved the whole idea of the Marketing Association celebrating 50 years of supporting NZ Marketers and Advertisers - its a great innings and well worth celebrating. Pretty sure Keith Norris FCIM has been there for most of it! And the idea of getting NZ to vote on the best work of the past 50 years was inspired. It was also a brilliant way to look back on an incredible body of work that NZ has put out there. No wonder creatives come from all around the world to work here and our advertising agencies regularly take out awards. Thank you John Miles and your team for a very pleasureable trip down memory lane. And for organising yet another great event. And to Frankie Coulter and Vogels (best bread ever) for sponsoring. The winners (as voted by 12,500 NZ'ders) were: 1970s: The Great Crunchie Train Robbery (Runner Up – Hugo and Holly, KFC) 1980s: BASF’s “Dear John” (Runner Up Goodnight Kiwi – TVNZ) 1990s: Toyota’s “Bugger” (Runner Up Xmas Scorched Almonds – Nestle) 2000s: Mitre 10’s Sand Pit (Runner Up Kiwis Overseas – Vogel’s Fraser McGregor starring :) ) 2010s: State Insurance’s “Nothing Gonna Break My Stride” (Runner Up Legend, Ghost Chips – NZTA) 2020s: Tina from Turners (Runner Up Lost Ticket – Lotto) "Bugger" winning overall is a not a surprise to me - it was/is a great ad. The Toyota work has always been brilliant - from Scotty to the most recent ad. Kudos to the Saatchi & Saatchi NZ team and Toyota New Zealand Limited Congratuations to all the other entrants, and the runners up and of course the winners. There's been some amazing ads made that didn't even make this list - just to be part of it is a huge achievement. The team here were stoked to be on the list, let alone be a winner. Ahead of one of my favourite ads too! Also very happy to see a place I loved working at (a long time ago) Colenso BBDO and the ever brilliant angela watson up on stage to collect 3 of these awards. A testament to delivering consistently great work. As always - huge congrats to "Tina's Team". We've done something truely special here. Meet Tript, a passionate gamer with an unmatched love for PlayStation. He immerses himself in virtual worlds, navigating every in-game challenge with skill and determination. The brave 7-year-old had leukaemia and endured long stays in hospital, undergoing chemo sessions away from home. His wish was to own a PS5 with a drifting controller, to play games with his friends.
