At OpsFest 2024, Gabby Johnston from Waitrose & Partners made it crystal clear: if a product isn’t on the shelf consistently, it doesn’t matter how great it is. ✅ Buyers track service levels religiously. ✅ They have high targets - because if they list a product, it needs to be in stock. ✅ It’s not just about getting listed - it’s about staying listed. Too many challenger brands focus all their energy on winning retail deals but don’t invest enough in the supply chain strategy that keeps those deals alive. At YF, we see this play out all the time: ❌ A brand secures a major listing - then struggles to meet demand. ❌ Logistics costs are underestimated, leading to missed SLAs. ❌ Forecasting isn’t tight enough, so availability fluctuates.
