About us
We come to work everyday to help foster a positive learning journey for everyone. Kami was developed in Aotearoa, New Zealand by four university friends who decided to make a difference. Ten years later, we’ve grown into a team of over 100 Kami-leons with a shared goal of supporting classroom heroes and leveling the playing field so that all students, no matter their age, grade, or ability, can love learning. We’re proud to have been named one of Time magazine’s most influential companies in 2022 and included in the Deloitte Fast 50 as the fastest growing company and fastest growing exporter in 2021. Our investors include leading Australian venture capitalist firm Right Click Capital, CapitalPitch, New Zealand-based Flying Kiwi Angels, New Zealand Venture Investment Fund, and notable Silicon Valley investors such as Sam Altman of Y Combinator and Scott Nolan of Founders Fund. Our Team: We believe that having a dedicated, enthusiastic, and non-hierarchical team can achieve remarkable things — we’re well on-track to proving it, too. Our company culture embraces diversity, compassion, transformation, and most importantly, fun! With these values, we're working to add a little magic to education so that teachers and students can achieve so much more together. We thrive in an encouraging environment where people can share ideas, generate solutions, and grow. Join us in building the future of education. Get in touch at careers@kamiapp.com, we’d love to hear from you!

Exciting news 🚨 We’ve officially achieved the highest level of security certification from @Google, and are CASA Tier 3 Certified! What does that mean? Well, it indicates that Kami's platform is secure, reliable, and compliant with industry best practices for security. We have robust measures in place to protect student and educator information, making it a safe choice for classroom use. An edtech win!

When purchasing edtech, Michael Poore, former superintendent of several districts, considers three things: "the shelf life of a product, who else bought it, and the support for those who will use and benefit from it." If you could add a fourth consideration to Michael Poore's three, what would it be? Let us know in the comments 👇

It’s here! The ability to convert, create, and grade assessments automatically with Questions AI. Teachers simply need the Question tool and a learning resource, and they’re away laughing, creating assessments in minutes! Plus, with the Depth of Knowledge feature, they can select specific levels of student comprehension across questions, from recall and reproduction to extended thinking. For educators still apprehensive about AI, not to worry—you can still create questions from scratch.

In the new world of Kami: - Teachers can jump into existing documents and search within recent work, we’ll make sure it’s easy to find. - Teachers can keep engagement up, we’ve updated the annotation tools to do so - Teachers can create their own assessments, we’ll make sure it’s done within minutes with Questions AI. - Teachers can see how students are progressing with a task at hand, we’ll make sure it’s in real time. In the new world of Kami, anything teachers do, we’re here as (tech) support. Discover it all here kamiapp.com/new-world

Superintendent in residence for the Council of Great City Schools, Dr. Michael Hinojosa, points out that 99% of superintendents started as teachers, so engaging staff is the "easiest" element to learn. Dealing with the community, however, is "nuanced" because "how well you do depends on how much experience you have with it." What is the most important lesson you learned as a teacher that you still value as a leader today?
