Voice of Aroha is an inclusive platform amplify the voices of a variety of communities and their perspectives on many topics. This programme is run by a diverse group of former refugees in Wellington, with support from the local community.
The programme will include discussions about politics, society, interviews with decision-makers, and will share our cultures, traditional music, and much more.
We aim to bring communities together while creating a safe space where former refugees can share their perspectives and take control of the narratives that concern us, and contribute our opinions for a more progressive NZ.
Our aims:
1) To provide a space that represents the voices of the communities of former refugees and encourage a more inclusive and accepting society in Aotearoa.
2) To represent the different perspectives of the communities living in the Wellington region and share their experiences.
3) To highlight and inspirational stories of people from refugee backgrounds and their contributions to New Zealand.
4) Increase awareness about topics that aren’t covered in mainstream media and open a dialogue to create solutions.
5) To encourage and empower our youth and communities by engaging with different activities and events happening at both the local and national level.
Who we are:
A group of former refugees and members of local communities who came together to establish a radio show which provides a platform for the diverse communities in Wellington. We aim for us all to collectively contribute by learning from each other about the issues affecting our communities. We will also be sharing information about events happening around Wellington.
