A position is available for an intermediate criminal lawyer to join Walker Street Chambers in Christchurch, working as a junior barrister for Kerryn Beaton KC. The role will involve appearing as lead and junior counsel in criminal trials and appeals in all levels of courts, as well as client management, file analysis, research, and submission drafting. The role requires someone with a strong commitment to access to justice, an understanding of the drivers of criminal offending, and at least PAL2 legal aid provider approval or the ability to obtain this quickly. Ongoing training and mentoring will be provided, and the role involves some supervision of more junior lawyers. Walker Street Chambers also offers opportunities to work with other senior criminal barristers. This is not a graduate role.
