If you get short on water this summer, at home or the bach, what can you do to keep your water usage down? Here are our five top tips -  💧Bucket in the shower – while your shower is warming up, collect the cold water in a bucket, then use this water to water your plants. 💧If it’s yellow, let it mellow – if it’s brown, flush it down! The average toilet uses 7 litres per flush. Save water by only flushing when necessary. 💧Switch off – save 28 litres of water per person per week by turning the tap off when brushing your teeth. Save a similar amount by doing the same when shaving!  💧Full loads only – only run your washing machine and/or dishwasher when it is full. Waiting until the machine is full not only saves water but also time putting clean items away too. 💧Shorter showers – save 12 litres of water per minute you shave off your regular shower time. A family of four can save 672 litres of water per week if everyone reduced their shower by two minutes. #savewater #toptips #watersmart #sustainablesummer

The Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, located deep within the Namib Desert, offers a luxurious and immersive retreat for travellers in Namibia. Managing water usage and minimising environmental impact is a key objective for the lodge - especially when you are situated in one of the driest places on earth! To manage this uniquely located site, they use a Hydraloop H300 water management system in all 10 individual lodges. This helps with the collection, treatment, and reuse of water from showers and baths, which can then be used for flushing toilets and rinsing dust off solar panels.
