The energy in the stadium was electric, and we loved seeing so many passionate fans cheering us on. We're committed to bringing high-quality basketball to the Taupō community, and your presence made it clear that this town has a real appetite for the sport. Over the long weekend Taupo welcomed a new era of basketball into the city. Tauihi Basketball, the Women's National Basketball League tipped off for the first time in Taupo with the Tauranga Whai v the Queens from Wellington. This was a home game for the Whai and we intend to bring both women's and men's National League basketball to Taupo every year. We have a game on 02 Nov 2024 v the Hoiho from Dunedin, and in 2025 we have a men's NBL game scheduled in May. I’m in awe of how they use the platform of basketball to promote cohesion and unity. Going beyond just dribbles to dabble in building social bonds is absolutely commendable.
