Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation

Philanthropic Fundraising Services

A restored and thriving Aotearoa New Zealand.

About us

The Whakatupu Aotearoa Foundation is a private philanthropic trust, established in 2020. We are strategic investors with a focus on: The Environment – including Ocean health, climate change, environmental degradation, declining biodiversity. People – helping communities, particularly young people, to flourish and reach their potential. Our founders, Ian and Wendy Kuperus, have a passion for philanthropy and have been involved in strategic giving for many years. Their journey in business and philanthropy has informed much of our story and approach. We embrace entrepreneurship, accept the nature of risk and take a long-term view. Our primary funder is Tax Management New Zealand (TMNZ), the business owned by Ian and Wendy Kuperus. Part of our journey in setting up the Foundation has been partnering with TMNZ and the staff team to develop a sense of shared purpose. This journey is ongoing as we work with the staff and clients of TMNZ on potential projects and ways of connecting with causes in our community.
