Wicky Talk Happy Birthday Wicket's World NZ Wicket's World celebrates our 1st birthday this month - one whole year in business. While single-minded determination, passion, and drive is essential in starting a business, you definitely need the support of a 'village' to keep you going. Milestones are definitely opportunities to celebrate, so here we go. What have we done in the last year? - Sourced product - never done that for my own product before. - Learnt about MPI - a whole different 'lingo'. - Branded and rebranded - with a little help from my friends. - Packaged and repackaged - with help from Carol-Anne Redfearn from Totalpak - Had an evolution of logos and artwork - thanks to Natasha Matila-Smith - Established ourselves in the market community - if you are a dog lover, seek out The Barking Mad Dog Markets on social media. - Created and updated our online store - good old Shopify. - Developed a community of loyal shoppers - I love this so much. - Built our Social Media presence on Facebook, Insta, Tik Tok and still growing. - Supported by so many people and businesses - We have also given back where we could. - We cracked record sales last week. I am grateful and thankful for the support of: Natasha Matila-Smith my daughter, who is incredibly talented, patient, skilled, and supportive of her mum's wacky idea's. I love you. Thank you. Melinder Kaur-Panesar and her husband, Ankur, you were both there at the beginning and when I was at my lowest. Stefan Crooks, always being level minded, supportive, general all round good guy. A guy you want to have in your corner. Angus Harris, Sharon Cavanagh for your advice and support. Caroline James always there with information and offers of assistance. Tāmati Norman for offering insights and assistance with things digital. Ash Razmi for reaching out and offering support and expertise. Jennifer Dahl for coming to the party and helping out with funding for a coaching course, from the Regional Business Partner Network, Auckland Our many customers who have tried our product, supported it, and keep supporting it. So 'Happy Birthday' to us. Here is to year 2. Nothing but love in this post. Ngā Mihi Nui From Wicket Sherrelle Smith Consultant - Contractor

Wickytalks What have I learnt so far? As well as being passionate about my pets I started this journey to learn what it's like being a creator of a product as well as being a seller of product. I chatted with a contact this week about an innovator of dog accessories. We recommended trialling the dog markets before trying to hit out at big store retail. Top 10 things I have learnt going to the dog markets.. 1. You will meet a great community of people. You can learn a lot from them. You end up helping each other. 2. People that come to the dog markets are passionate and open to giving feedback. 3. There are many different types of pet 🐕 people. Some buy food, others buy accessories, some buy treats, others buy quality, many buy value for money. 4.. Many will spend more on their dogs than themselves. They are not tire kickers. 5. Demonstrate how to use your product. I keep my offers simple, Topper and now Kibble. Complimentary products and how they work together. 6. They will likely spend if their dog can trial the product. If their dog likes it, and the price is right, they will buy. 7. Engage with your customers come out from behind your counter/table. 8. Get the product in their hands, touch, feel, see it. 9. Get some form of pay wave or electronic form of payment. You are missing sales if you don't have it! 10. Get a nice big sign... so you can be seen. Make sure your shop/website is on your sign/packaging. Simple/Key messages. Overall, it's my dream job! I'd love to be playing with dogs everyday of the week!! Help us, help others! NZ is now officially in a recession. That's scary! Last time we ran a campaign to support another charity it was so successful. We figure we want to do that again, because we can. We want to help feed families and their doggy family members. www.wicketsworld.co.nz Sherrelle Smith Consultant - Contractor

Wickytalk Wickywalks More Wickywalks with Sally and Wickets BFF Kobe joining the wee dog pack on Mt Albert around 6pm most nights. Jennifer and Karina if you are free next week, bring Maddie and Luna. Adam Courtier you inspired me to create an AI animated Wickets World Wickywalks. I had a lot of fun with that. You know I have a new idea in mind with that too, A Wicket's World Children's book! Fiona Tomlinson you also inspired me with your Photobook idea. Lisa Cudby you have been a great driver of many of these crazy ideas I am rolling along with. Love having your support. Does anyone know how to create a book and get it published?
