About us
At Woods, creating and delivering better communities is at the heart of what we do. We offer a full suite of Urban Design and Architecture, Engineering, 3 Waters, Planning, Surveying and Geo-Spatial services to the land development, building, health, institutional, energy, government, and transport sectors, to name a few. From small-medium sized subdivisions right through to the most demanding of sites and scales of projects, we combine our disciplines to create innovative, strategic, and cost-effective solutions for our clients. Our holistic approach sees us partner with the land and the people, resulting in better outcomes for our clients but also for the people who live, work, and play in our communities. As a hands-on, practical team, we have a flat organisational structure. There are no ‘managers managing managers’ at Woods which is why you’ll find all four of our directors running and delivering projects. Our specialists have access to in-house technologies, systems, and software to seamlessly and efficiently run every aspect of an ongoing project.

Projects don't have to be 'spooky'! As a project manager, the infrastructural 'ghosts' in Brownfields can keep you on your toes; crumbling pipelines, unrecorded DYI projects hiding beneath your feet. Avoid on-site jump-scares with Woods' Underground Service Location and turn your project nightmare into a project-dream! Know what's beneath the surface with underground service locators from Woods. Woods offers a comprehensive suite of services to map confined and complicated underground spaces, ensuring you're always aware of what lies beneath. With our advanced underground utility detection technology and ground penetrating radar, you can locate underground hazards and assets, prevent damage to underground infrastructure during excavation or construction projects, and make informed decisions based on accurate underground data. Recently, we invited Emily Mabin Sutton from Climate Club Aotearoa to take us through an interactive workshop about Climate Change! With 4 'Ripple Effect' sessions across our offices and online, the Climate Club team did not disappoint, highlighting what we can do as a country, company, and as individuals to lessen our carbon footprint. With sweet treats and incentives, we continue our lives with more insight about the environmental influences of our daily actions. #ClimateChange #makeachange #EnvironmentalNZ #GreenNZ #WoodsWay #OurLand

We are buzzing after volunteering at #Race4Life at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park and Event Centre on Tuesday! The Race4Life Trust organises an annual charity event providing palliative-care patients a day of excitement and fun. Each year, Woods volunteers 20 people to help each patient and their families into Race, Luxury, and Vintage Cars, gear them up for a motorcycle ride, and assist them into a chopper! To be part of such a key experience in the lives of each patient and their families is beyond rewarding. We are proud have brought the Woods Way to the racetrack again. https://lnkd.in/ghgWRmGY #Race4life2024 #Racecar #PalliativeCare #Volunteering #WoodsWay

Woods' Survey team is still energised from this year's Survey and Spatial New Zealand Annual Conference; Looking Ahead at the Heartland at Napier War Memorial Conference Centre. We were thrilled to have won this year's CSNZ Employer Excellence Award which stands as a testament to our collective aspirations, achievements, and 'bright' minds! This accolade is a true reflection of our passion and dedication to the surveying profession. A special congratulations to two exceptional lecturers from the University of Otago (Te Whare Wānanga o Ōtākou) School of Surveying: 🔸 Dr Mick Strack – Awarded a Fellowship with S+SNZ for his remarkable contributions to academia. 🔸 Richard Hemi – Honoured with the Cadastral Stream Award and the prestigious McRae Supreme Award for his invaluable impact on the industry. Both Mick and Richard are instrumental in shaping the future of surveying. We are proud to employ graduates who have been guided by these outstanding educators, and it’s fantastic to see their contributions celebrated at the conference. Congratulations to all the winners and participants who made this event a celebration of excellence in our field! #WoodsWay #EmployerExcellence #CadastralNZ #Fellowship #SurveyingNZ
