New Zealand is facing a critical shortage of qualified teachers. By 2025, it’s estimated that the country will need an additional 2,500 teachers to meet demand across primary and secondary schools. With student enrolment increasing by over 3% annually, the need for passionate educators has never been greater. We’re hosting an exclusive seminar in the UK this October, to find and support talented teachers looking to make the move and contribute to New Zealand’s education system. Our overseas events provide skilled professionals with all the info they need to move to New Zealand including the immigration process, job opportunities and relocation support – all seamlessly managed by our team under one roof. Know UK Teachers interested in making the move? They can register here: https://lnkd.in/e7n9W9yr

Last week we were invited to speak at the SARNZ- Scaffolding, Access & Rigging NZ Inc. (SARNZ) Conference, where our Senior Licensed Immigration Adviser, Hamneet Jaggi emphasised the crucial link between immigration settings and industry progress.   Speaking alongside Chris Penk, Minister for Building and Construction and Associate Minister of Immigration, and Mark Irvine, Managing Director of Acrow Group, Hameet advocated for urgent updates to New Zealand's immigration policy, particularly the inclusion of scaffolders in the Green List occupations and revising ANZSCO codes.   While construction activity is experiencing a downturn now, all indicators suggest a significant uplift in 2025 and beyond with new large-scale projects already being announced, including vital school and maintenance initiatives. The role of scaffolders is fundamental to any build and the panel unanimously acknowledged the importance of skilled migrants in the industry. However, without movement in immigration policy for this occupation, projects risk stalling, impacting both businesses and New Zealand’s infrastructure development.   We remain committed to being the voice for industries across New Zealand, advocating for the changes needed to ensure that Aotearoa has the skilled workforce required to drive essential projects forward.   Thank you SARNZ- Scaffolding, Access & Rigging NZ Inc. for hosting such a successful event.

New Zealand faces a shortfall of 8,000 aged care workers in the coming years, a critical challenge that demands immediate and strategic action. With 80 individuals turning 65 every day, our aging population will surpass one million within four years, further intensifying the strain on our healthcare system.   Our recent webinar featuring Hon. Tracey Martin, CEO of Aged Care Association NZ, was watched by hundreds of Kiwi employers in the healthcare sector and delved into the pressing challenges and strategies needed to address these workforce shortages.   Tracey highlighted the urgency for a coordinated government strategy, the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders, ensuring accurate information in key overseas markets, meeting worker expectations, and protecting our inbound workforce from exploitation. You can follow Hon. Tracey Martin. on LinkedIn for her updates.   With New Zealand’s undeniable reliance on overseas workers, building a premier reputation to attract these skilled professionals is more important than ever.   Missed the webinar? Catch up on the discussion by viewing our recording below.   If you want to learn more about our ethical pathway to find skilled offshore healthcare workers, get in touch with our Senior Licensed Immigration Adviser Sameena Jaspal and she can talk you through your options.

As expected, we've just received an update from Immigration New Zealand (INZ) regarding changes to visa charges.   Taking effect from October 1st 2024 most visa charges will increase. The good news is that these changes will reduce the taxpayer contribution to the immigration system by $563 million over four years.   The not-so-great news is that this will affect your businesses and most of your migrant staff at a time when businesses are having to better manage costs.   If you are considering extending visas for your workforce we highly recommend you start today to lodge your application by Monday September 30th, as the cost of an AEWV will more than double on October 1st. We can help you ensure that your staff are retained for as long as possible before these changes take effect, get in touch today. https://workingin.nz/#form
