The Restaurant Association welcomes Immigration New Zealand’s announcement that ANZSCO – the role classifications used for visa applications – is to be replaced by a comparable but separate system. Statistics New Zealand will be introducing a new New Zealand classification system called the National Occupation List (NOL). The first version of the NOL will be released on 20 November 2024. The RA has worked hard for many years to draw attention to the issues with ANZSCO, which often results in employees wrongly classified into a job role that bears little match to their actual day to day position and causes frustration for employees and employers. We’ve asserted that there is a need for a realignment of the description to better fit current work situations and hence the announcement is welcome news. Changes to food and beverage naming rules If your business is in the food and beverage sector, some names used to describe cheese, processed meats, beer, wine and spirits, and some other products are now restricted. For example, there are new rules around using terms like Feta, Ouzo, Sherry or Prosciutto di Parma to describe your products. https://lnkd.in/gBSMT73X

A huge congrats to Marisa Bidois from the Restaurant Association of New Zealand for making the Top 50 Women in Food & Drink New Zealand!!
Welcoming Marisa Bidois as one of our Top 50 Women in Food & Drink Aotearoa New Zealand in 2024. Chief Executive at the Restaurant Association of New Zealand, Marisa has steered the organisation towards agility in addressing industry needs while maintaining the capacity to drive impactful change. “In 2023, Marisa joined the Board of Rotorua NZ. Her contributions were recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to the Hospitality and Tourism Community Award by AUT, while the Association received acclaim at the 2020 New Zealand Food Awards for its industry support. Beyond member advocacy, Marisa dedicates significant efforts to fostering industry interest and opportunities, elevating its profile.
