The IPL 2021 schedule is confirmed.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is officially back!

In what will be a rematch of last year’s final, IPL 2020 will begin with two multiple-time champions Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians going head-to-head on September 19 at Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Watch it on live streaming.

Defending champions Mumbai Indians had clinched their fourth title with a narrow one-run victory over the Chennai Super Kings in 2019.

IPL 2020 will be played over a two-month period, with the final likely to be played on November 10, 2020.

Pushed forward from its usual April-May calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IPL 2020 had been confirmed to take place in the UAE due to similar concerns.

The Indian Premier League’s schedule is spread across three cities in the UAE – Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

The IPL  has only been held once outside India – the 2009 edition in South Africa – though it had visited the UAE shores for the first half of the 2014 season.

Eight teams – Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab – will play each other twice in a round-robin format.

The top four in the points table after 56 league matches of IPL 2020 will then move on to the knockout stages.

The matches, which traditionally start at 8 PM IST, will now begin half-an-hour early, live at 7.30 PM IST, to avoid a late finish as per the IPL 2020 schedule.

There are set to be 10 double-headers, where two matches will be held on the same day. The first fixture on that occasion will begin live at 3.30 PM IST, while the second fixture will begin live at 7.30 PM IST.
