💡Did you know? From 2016 to 2023, the Cacao Forest Project supported 35 Dominican producers in innovating sustainable cocoa agroforestry practices. This initiative targeted over 1,900 producers, boosting biodiversity and increasing incomes from under $2,000 to over $7,000 per hectare annually! One of the most remarkable aspects of this project has been the strong sense of community and #trust we've built with local #farmers. Workshops and training programmes have equipped them with the skills to implement sustainable practices, creating a ripple effect of positive change. Farmers have reported seeing more birds and insects, improved #soilhealth, and increased biodiversity on their lands. 🍫 From ageing plantations to empowering communities, discover how the Cacao Forest project helped to transform the landscape of Dominican cocoa farming through sustainable practices and innovative #agroforestry models. Swipe through below ⤵️ to learn more about this incredible journey and the future of sustainable cocoa farming. 🌴 Grupo Palmas is Peru’s largest #palmoil producer and exporter, managing 25,500 hectares of oil palm and 1,200 hectares of #cocoa in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. Find out how Grupo Palmas, with Earthworm’s support, became the first Peruvian company to publish and apply a commitment to No-Deforestation in its operations and supply chain. By protecting 15,000 hectares of primary forests in Maniti from #deforestation, Grupo Palmas preserves ecosystems and supports the livelihoods of local communities and smallholders. These real actions are transforming their operations and setting new standards in forest #conservation. 🤝 This collaboration marks a significant shift in how business can coexist with nature. Check out the video below to see how we work together to protect this part of the #Amazon and promote sustainable development. 👇 Richard Vaca Jonathan Maerker Giacomo Tabacco Isabella Galante Carlos O. "The other day, I had a delicious conversation with Bastien SACHET, CEO of Earthworm Foundation, a foundation that helps companies like Nestlé to know where the raw materials they use in their products come from and prevent the #ecosystems from which they come from being exploited. We talk about that and the world we live in, with the far right forcing the right in #Europe to stop the green policies they have been promoting all these years" shares El Pais writer Daniel Alonso Viña.

🌳 Today, as we welcomed the long-awaited weekend, my colleagues from across the globe and I had the privilege of joining Earthworm Foundation Founder, Scott Poynton, for an hour of virtual nature therapy walks. 🌲 Access to nature is a privilege, especially for someone like me living in the suburban area of Jakarta, a metropolitan capital with concerning air quality (ranked the third worst globally 😥 ). A simple walk, intended to be relaxing, often leads to contemplation about what I breathe into my lungs. 🍃 Nature therapy has been proven to reduce blood pressure and lower heart rate. In my daily life filled with to-do lists, as a communications person who spends most of my workday at a desk, it was truly refreshing to virtually experience the greenery on my screen as Scott and the team walked through the forest. Thank you Scott for your guidance and to our HR team for curating various activities throughout June, a month dedicated to wellbeing. These initiatives serve as a reminder of our shared commitment to both people and nature, encouraging us to prioritize self-care and reconnect with the natural world that inspires our work. Let's remember to take time amidst all the hustle to connect with nature—it's not just refreshing but essential for our well-being. Have a wonderful weekend! 😊 #LifeAtEarthworm #WellbeingMonth

🌞 We owe much of our impact to the dedicated individuals on the ground. These folks aren't just clocking in; they're out there, facing challenges and celebrating victories firsthand. Whether navigating local regulations or fostering community partnerships, their experiences are the heartbeat of our progress. At Earthworm Foundation, we believe in sharing their stories because, behind every success, there's a story of #resilience, creativity, and hard work. From the forests to the farms, their passion drives real change, making a world of difference one step at a time. 🌷 In this edition of our #FeetintheField series, we spotlight Raquel Costa, Earthworm's Landscape Project Officer, in our landscape in the Tomé-Açu microregion of #Brazil. She and her team strive to improve the well-being of families in the palm oil, cocoa, tropical fruits, and fragrances supply chains by engaging with multiple stakeholders. 🌱 Join Raquel in Brazil and see what makes her tick. FrieslandCampina is partnering with Earthworm Foundation and Starling (Airbus DS) to enhance our commitment to sustainable palm oil sourcing. With over 25 years of experience, Earthworm Foundation is the perfect ally. Starling, a satellite monitoring solution co-developed by Earthworm Foundation and Airbus Defence and Space - Intelligence, will help to improve our supply chain traceability. Traceability in the palm oil supply chain means that we can trace the palm oil product back to its plantation level, allowing us to monitor that the palm oil was sourced without contributing to deforestation and produced in an environmentally and socially conflict-free area. This partnership marks significant progress towards our responsible sourcing goals, improving traceability, deforestation monitoring, and supply chain integrity. 🌱 Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eCq8PT2s #Sustainability #NoDeforestation #Traceability #ResponsibleSourcing #NDPE #SustainablePalmOil

🌟 Witnessing a murmuration of starlings is one of nature's most mesmerising spectacles. These birds gather in large flocks, twisting and turning in perfect synchrony, creating fluid, ever-changing shapes in the sky. But why do starlings perform these aerial ballets? Flying in such tight formations reduces predation risk and demonstrates resilience as they navigate challenges such as predators or changing weather conditions. Likewise, supporting #farmers and #communities and strengthening their resilience are at the heart of our work. It's a stunning display of collective behaviour, where each bird follows simple rules based on the movements of its neighbours, resulting in a coordinated and dynamic display. 🚵 Each bird in a murmuration is a participant and leader within a complex and ever-evolving system. Each has the power to shape the direction and shape of the whole system, to create entirely new constellations. This natural phenomenon is a reminder of the power of collaboration and the beauty that emerges from unity. Just like the murmuration of starlings, we at Earthworm Foundation believe in the power of collective movement. Watching these birds soar in perfect harmony, guiding each other through new paths, reminds us that change is possible and inevitable when we come together. Their synchronised flight symbolises how #solutions can spread and scale when we work in unison. By moving together with a shared purpose, we can achieve truly extraordinary things. 🌾 AgroImpact has managed to unite the supply chain, NGOs, various sectorial organisations, and the cantonal government. This is a great achievement for Switzerland, as it brings concrete benefits for #farmers engaged in the transition to more sustainable agricultural practices by reducing their carbon footprint! 👨🌾 AgroImpact, whose members include Nestlé (Suisse), WWF Switzerland, and Swiss agricultural chambers, is an innovative initiative dedicated to supporting Swiss agriculture and, more importantly, offering support to Swiss farmers in its climate transition to reduce their #carbonfootprint. AgroImpact is now fully operational with a system for farmers who commit to reducing their carbon footprint. Already, 183 farms have signed up, and 12 new members have joined the association, actively working towards a sustainable future. 🤝 We are happy to be one of the founding members and pleased to see AgroImpact accelerate. We look forward to working closely with the AgroImpact team to support the implementation of the transition. Join us in celebrating this milestone! It was good to be on Reto Minder's farm with the members of the strategic committee of the Earthworm Foundation's Swiss #LivingSoils Program together with Christina Senn-Jakobsen from Swiss Food & Nutrition Valley, Aude Jarabo (Trichard) from AgroImpact, @Wolfgang Sturny from SWISS NO-TILL Till Lisa Casarico from Union suisse des paysans, Urs Niggli from Institut für Agrarökologie (agroecology.science) ltd. and our team Ivanoé Koog, Piera Waibel, Theresa Jacobs Clara Labaste We took stock of the progress made to date by the program and explored synergies between the various initiatives to seek complementarity. We also saw some very innovative practices like an intercropping of #corn and #sugarbeet. Had never seen that before but seems to be higher yielding than the same crop in monoculture, with interesting synergies between the two plants. bottom line, it's always the same golden rule: #soilcover Sols Vivants Coop Pictet Group @Pictet Group Foundation Christine Sandström Florin AG
