NPL Connects with Future Geoscientists at UPNG Open Day! New Porgera Limited (NPL) was excited to participate in the Geoscience Open Day, organized by the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) School of Natural and Physical Sciences in Port Moresby on 11th October this year. This event aimed to engage students from the Earth Sciences division, providing them with insights into potential career paths in the mining industry with NPL. Prior to the Open Day, NPL team members from the Mineral Resources (MR) and Human Resources and Employee Development (HR-ED) departments connected with five NPL sponsored students on 10th October. Among these five sponsored students, two are from Porgera, two from Enga, and one is from Tari. During this Meet-and-Greet session, they presented the students with NPL-branded shirts and hosted a Career Talk with other interested UPNG students from various schools and disciplines. This session highlighted the different programs NPL offers to support students and graduates pursuing careers in mining and related fields. The NPL team members were Geology Production Superintendent, Norma Siki, ED Superintendent, Mavelyn Panapen and ED Programs Officer, Rachael Lepokon. Ms. Panapen and Ms. Lepokon also led NPL’s representation at the PNG University of Technology (PNGUoT) Career Fair in late August this year. Through engagement in such events, NPL is committed to investing in Papua New Guinea’s human resources, empowering students, and cultivating the next generation of leaders for Porgera mine and beyond. #NPLCareers #UPNGOpenDay #PorgeraMine #FutureLeaders
