At Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML), the safety and security of our employees is our top priority. We are pleased to announce that six of our Port Moresby corporate office staff successfully passed a two-day defensive driving course. In light of the high driving risks in Port Moresby, OTML initiated a two-day defensive driving course through its Corporate Affairs department.. The course, developed and conducted by Josien Training and Consultants, required two days, combining theoretical knowledge on the first day with practical exercises on the second. With light vehicle driving being one of the highest risks in Port Moresby, this course not only addressed driving safely but also integrates crucial security aspects, including awareness of car-jacking scenarios. We are committed to ensuring our team operates safely and securely, and this tailored training program was a significant step towards achieving that goal.

We are proud to announce that through the National Government’s Tax Credit Scheme (TCS), OTML has awarded a road construction contract worth K36.1 million from Atemkit to Kavorabip in North Fly District, Western Province. The 28.74 km road will serve as a critical link for the two villages of Atemkit and Kavorabip, whose people include the principle landowners of the Ok Tedi Mine operation. Currently the villages of Atemkit and Kavorabip are only accessible by helicopter. “The people of Atemkit and Kavorabip are principle landowners just like the people of Finalbin and Bultem. Unfortunately it took Ok Tedi and the Government too long to recognise them through such infrastructure projects,” said OTML Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer Kedi Ilimbit.
