These helicopters have been one of the workhorses of Papua New Guinea aviation over the last 20 years. The Airbus Helicopters BK117, and now the H145 is one of the best multi-role light twin helicopters ever produced.
Happy birthday to the #BK117! Today marks 45 years since its first ever (prototype) flight in Germany by MBB, followed by the KHI prototype flight in August later that year in Japan. The BK117 has come a long way since the initial release of the A-1 model in 1982, to the tremendous D-3 model now being produced; but every single one of these models has been a great success, with the Legacy B-2 still being one of the greatest light twin engine helicopters available on the market, particularly when upgraded to a #BK117-850D2.
