STEM is a corporate citizenship program of Aboitiz Construction that offers free training for qualified individuals, emphasizing the development of essential scaffolding skills—an important qualification in the construction industry.     Aboitiz Construction officially partnered with DICT Bulk Terminal, Inc. (DBTI) to develop a new berth for cement shipments at the Davao International Container Terminal (DICT) located in Panabo City, Davao del Norte. A partnership signing ceremony took place on October 15 at Damosa Diamond Tower in Davao City.   The project involves the design and construction of DICT’s 5th berth, under its subsidiary company, DBTI, a joint venture between DICT and Philcement Corporation. The berth will span 200 meters in length and 18.5 meters in width. Equipped with a state-of-the-art material handling system and fendering systems, the new berth will be capable of accommodating vessels with a deadweight tonnage of up to 60,000.   This facility will primarily serve as a port for cement and cementitious materials, carrying out Aboitiz Construction's mission of building a better future through quality structures.  “This project marks an important step in our ongoing mission to improve logistics in the region and contribute to the region’s economic vitality. Key contributors to this achievement include the company’s project for Tsuenshi Heavy Industries in Balamban Cebu, which accounted for over 3 million safe man-hours, and its project for Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation in Claver, Surigao del Norte, contributing over 1 million safe man-hours for maintenance activities just this year alone. “This achievement is a testament to our team's commitment to safety and execution excellence.     In June 2020, Aboitiz Construction completed the construction of a Chromite Recovery Plant in Claver, Surigao del Norte. Commissioned by JGC Philippines, the project involved structural installation, pipeline fabrication and installation, stainless steel tank installation, and mechanical works for the mining plant. The company successfully delivered 439,807 safe man hours, with 230 team members contributing to the project. This achievement reflects Aboitiz Construction’s commitment to safety, ensuring the plant was built to high standards while prioritizing the well-being of its workforce.     Early September 2024, Aboitiz Construction sealed deals with AP Renewables, Inc. (APRI), a geothermal company under Aboitiz Power Corporation, and CEMEX Philippines, one of the leading cement producers in the country, for maintenance works, enhancing its role in the energy and cement industries. Aboitiz Construction has entered into a three-year service agreement with APRI for routine and outage maintenance works at the Makban Geothermal Power Plant in Bay and Calauan, Laguna and Tiwi Geothermal Plant in Tiwi Albay. This agreement, which commenced in early September, involves mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and condition monitoring tasks. For CEMEX, Aboitiz Construction is currently supplying technical manpower for the commissioning of kiln line 4 at the CEMEX plant in Antipolo City. This extension of a previous project, which ran from January to June 2024, began in early September 2024 and is expected to conclude in December 2024. #BuildingABetterFuture #OneNewAboitiz
