At U-GO our support for our scholars does not end with financial aid. We were thrilled to launch a new online mentorship "Empowerment" series last week attended by 89 scholars from Indonesia and the Philippines. Our scholars had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the power of community building and mentorship in the lives and careers of three female leaders of industry Roshni Mahtani Cheung , Hester Spiegel-vdSteenhoven and Leanne Robers along with U-GO board members Carrie W. and Juliet Zhu, CFA. When a talented young woman joins the U-GO family she is building a community of fellow scholars and U-GO supporters around the world who will be there to provide the valuable advice and guidance they will need as the continue their journeys from university and out into the world. Thanks to our partners Ayala Foundation, Inc. and INOTEK Foundation for your help in this first (of many) mentorship sessions! cc: John Wood Tom Monroe Kirsten Sansom Patricia Horgan

We are thrilled to announce a new partnership between Ayala Foundation and Cathay, marking Cathay Cargo's first-ever collaboration in the Philippines. We celebrated this milestone with a launch held earlier this month at Ayala Museum. Cathay is the official carrier of Zóbel: The Future of the Past, the landmark exhibition that made its Asian premiere at the museum after a successful run at the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Ayala Foundation, Generika Drugstore welcome 10 Pharmacy scholars As part of their shared commitment to creating healthcare leaders, Ayala Foundation and Generika Drugstore welcomed ten scholars to the Generika Pharmacist Scholarship Program at a signing and orientation ceremony held on August 16. The scholarship will support the 10 third-year BS Pharmacy students not only during the last two years of their undergraduate education but also as they take the board exam to become registered pharmacists. In her message, Ayala Foundation Senior Director Cel Amores noted the financial assistance and training opportunities that will be given to the students as part of the program and how these will help them pursue their dreams. “I want to thank our partner Generika for investing in the future and supporting these students' education,” she said. She added that the scholars should make the most of the opportunity so they can “make a lasting impact on the world”. Angelo Panti, a scholar from the University of Santo Tomas - Legazpi said the motivation to pursue his degree is to help others. “I chose the Pharmacy course because I've always wanted to be a part of the healthcare workforce serving Filipinos. My personal goal is to become a trusted source of healthcare guidance, particularly within the Filipino community, where access to quality, affordable healthcare remains a challenge,” he shared. Gino Guinto, Chief Commercial Officer of Generika Drugstore closed out the ceremony by congratulating the scholars and expressing his excitement for their journeys. “Hopefully, after two years, we get to shake your hands, in person, and congratulate you all for a job well done and for being a full-fledged pharmacist,” he said.

The Iraya are among the eight Indigenous Mangyan groups living on the island of Mindoro. Since 1990, we have worked with them on community development initiatives ranging from education to livelihood assistance. On National Indigenous Peoples Day and International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples (NIP and IDWIP), we honor and celebrate the country’s Indigenous Peoples and join the nation in upholding their right to live and thrive as individuals, as citizens, and as communities.

#BrigadangAyala serves over 23,000 students, clocks 7,700 volunteer hours for DepEd’s Balik Eskwela Ayala employees and partners trooped to different public schools nationwide in support of the Department of Education’s Balik Eskwela program, which prepared classrooms for the new school year. As part of the #BrigadangAyala network of volunteers, 1,309 Ayala employees and partners helped clean up, repair, and repaint classrooms in time for the reopening of classes. Serving 30 public elementary and high schools, #BrigadangAyala logged close to 7,700 volunteer hours. When public schools reopened in late July and early August, #BrigadangAyala had completed the repair and repainting of classrooms that are currently being used by more than 23,000 students. Most of these on-ground mobilizations were led by different chapters of the WeAreAyala Business Club (WAABC), composed of representatives from different Ayala business units operating in regional centers. Over the years different WAABC chapters have actively partnered with Ayala Foundation to support DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela/Balik Eskwela program. WAABC has also actively supported the foundation’s volunteer activities, including relief efforts in times of natural calamities. Maraming salamat, WAABC! We hope to continue serving our communities with you in the months ahead!
