Yesterday at the #ForCoral Pavilion at COP16, Blue Alliance, in partnership with BNP Paribas, the Global Fund for Coral Reefs, Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance, and other key collaborators, launched a first-of-its-kind impact loan facility for coral reef conservation. The event drew a packed audience on-site, with many more joining remotely via ICRI’s livestream. Attendees witnessed BNP Paribas’ initial funding commitment, an introduction to the first cohort of investments, and the exciting potential to scale this innovative facility. 🌊 While yesterday was the Ocean Day at the #KMGBF UN Biodiversity Pavilion the #ForCoral Pavilion was packed and exemplified the power of #partnership and #connectivity across ecosystems. We kicked off with a Closed Door Ocean Finance Meeting by United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and Global Fund for Coral Reefs, welcoming Peter Thomson, UN Secretary's Special Envoy for the Ocean, where leaders discussed innovative #financial solutions for marine conservation. This collaboration is essential for unlocking the funding needed to protect the ocean. 💡💰 The session by IUCN on Seascapes of the Future focused on Nature-Based Solutions, the Blue Economy, and the Great Blue Wall, highlighting how interconnected efforts can create #sustainable marine environments. 🌊🌍 Blue Alliance Marine Protected Areas and BNP Paribas together with Global Fund for Coral Reefs, Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance and other partners launched the first impact loan facility for marine conservation, a significant step towards #funding impactful projects that benefit both ecosystems and local communities. 🌱🔗 Finally, discussions on Advancing Marine Conservation Breakthroughs led by High-Level Climate Champions emphasised the need to #connect global #action for #coralreefs #mangroves #kelp and ultimately the ocean. 🌐🌿 These events remind us that #collaboration is key to driving meaningful change.
