"Can AI replace humans?" That was a pivotal question In the Philippine Marketing Association Stratmark panel discussion on AI and creativity. I believe that the essence of being human is our inherent need for connection with others. Unlike AI, we experience a wide range of emotions, which shape our interactions and relationships. Our capacity for empathy, compassion and understanding is deeply rooted in our humanity. Our unique experiences and our SOUL that many attribute to human existence cannot be replicated by machines (at least, for now). In his recent talk at the 31st National PR Congress of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, Philip Tiongson, HAVAS Ortega General Manager of Mx, Data Science and Analytics, shared the Filipino Prosumers' perspectives on AI: "Generative AI is poised to change how we work, play, and live our lives. It is ushering in a new age of how we work, play, and live our lives. It is also reshaping how consumers want to experience brands. For one, they will expect seamlessness and convenience from brands, as well as personalized experiences. However, they also expect that brands remain human amidst all the technological advancements, as well as transparency. In addition, Filipino Prosumers expect brands to also advocate for equal access to technology — that no one be left behind. We stand at the cusp of a revolutionary change with the advancement of Generative AI. And brands are best positioned to help shape the conversations and experiences that we can get from this new revolutionary technology." Prosumers are the leading-edge 15-20% of consumers, who are forward thinking, influential, proactive and socially and/or environmentally conscious. They are first to market. What they currently think, feel and do are usually 18-24 months ahead of the mainstream.
