This is due to the decrease in generation and transmission charges. Meralco’s distribution charge remains stable and unchanged since 2022. Meralco Chairman, Manuel V. Pangilinan (MVP) describes the company's Terra Solar project a "super deal" for its ability to power and bring light to 2.4M homes while reducing 4.3M tons of carbon dioxide emissions yearly. This project recently got a $600M investment from Actis – a UK based investment firm which focuses on sustainable infrastructure; and is set to become the world's largest solar farm with 3,500 MWp capacity and 4,500 MWhr battery energy storage system.
