Am 24. Februar 2022 hat Russland die Ukraine überfallen. Der Krieg hält auch zwei Jahre danach in unverminderter Härte an und sorgt für unermessliches Leid. Das betrifft auch die Schifffahrt. So sind etwa knapp 15 Prozent der weltweit eingesetzten Seeleute russischer oder ukrainischer Nationalität. Oftmals sind sie und ihre Familien direkt betroffen vom Krieg in der Ukraine. Weite Teile des Schwarzen Meers bleiben Kriegs- und Risikogebiet – und damit für die Schifffahrt eine Gefahrenzone. Das Rote Meer ist derzeit ebenfalls nicht sicher, da jemenitische Huthi-Rebellen seit drei Monaten Handelsschiffe mit Drohnen und Raketen beschießen. Hintergrund ist der Krieg in Nahost. Die Angriffe haben dazu geführt, dass das Seegebiet um das Rote Meer von der Mehrzahl der Schiffe inzwischen gemieden werden muss. Darüber hinaus nehmen die Spannungen zwischen China und Taiwan und im südchinesischen Meer weiter zu. Ein Konflikt in diesen Seeregionen hätte weitreichende Folgen. On February 19, 2024, Döhle Group's Learning and Development Team (Manila) delivered an Advanced Leadership Course among senior seafarer officers of Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG. The Advanced Leadership Course empowers maritime PD officers to elevate their skills, inspire teams, and navigate any challenge at sea. The attendees learned from industry experts - including our homegrown Captain Sherwin Cinco, Training Officer Christian Barnard Bravo, and Döhle Group's representative in the Philippines and DSPC's President and Managing Director Tore Henriksen. The officers also focused on developing their strategic thinking and unlocking their full leadership potential. That's the power of effective leadership at sea. The PD Group's Advanced Leadership Course equipped our officers with the tools and knowledge to become a true maritime leader. It was a momentous event for the Döhle-sponsored cadets in the Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific (MAAP) located in Mariveles, Bataan. The cadets, who are currently under the Cadetship Program partnership between Peter Döhle Schiffahrts-KG and The International Maritime Employers' Council Ltd (IMEC), met with the the Döhle Group's representative in Manila, DSPC's President and Managing Director Tore Henriksen during the IMEC Cadets Inauguration Day 2024. Through this event, the sponsors were able to present their visions and goals for the careers of their seafarers. We wish all the cadets the best of luck in completing their programs.
