A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Cisco Filipino Professional Network for the amazing holiday gifts for hundreds of children! You have truly become their holiday heroes!

Cisco Filipino Professional Network kicked off Filipino American History Month last week with a multi-office give back event for Project PEARLS. It was amazing to have so many folks join us wrap holiday gifts for children in need in Manila. Huge thank you to my FPN core co-leads for keeping the focus and helping us make a difference! Massive kudos to Madeleine for driving the Chicago office event and keeping me on task! #CiscoFPN #WeAreCisco #ThousandEyes #CiscoSE #FAHM Aaron Mark Ambayon, Hector R. We couldn’t tell her story better than she can. We are extremely proud of Rosalie! “Before I became a scholar of Project PEARLS, I was a thin and dirty child who only knew how to collect charcoal and nails to have something to eat every day and for extra pocket money for school. During my elementary school years, my parents worked solely at the charcoal factory, which also sustained us for our daily needs. I remember back when I wasn't yet a scholar of Project Pearls, I was dirty and extremely thin. There was a time when a photo was taken of me while gathering charcoal, and I was one of the many children photographed there. That experience changed my life, and when I became a scholar of Project Pearls in the third grade, the organization helped me a lot. They provided new uniforms and shoes for school, replacing the hand-me-downs from my older siblings. I also recall eagerly anticipating Project Pearls' Saturday activity programs once I became a scholar. I learned a lot from what they taught and met many youth like me through programs like the brain booster and after school programs, which supported underprivileged children like myself. When I was in fourth grade, my mother passed away at a young age, leaving me orphaned. I thought life would stop there, thinking there was no hope, wondering how I would continue my studies and who would support me. But with the help of Project Pearls, despite what happened in my life, they continued to support my education. In my third year of college, Project Pearls assisted me in securing a position at a daycare center to receive an allowance and additional funds for daily expenses. I became an assistant teacher at Project Pearls' daycare, assisting teachers with student supervision and occasionally teaching the children myself. Because of this experience, I was able to apply what I had learned as an assistant teacher, especially in my course of study now. AndI also helped with the Brain Booster program (Project Pearls activity program every Saturday) for my fellow scholars. Thanks to Project Pearls' support, I have completed a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. I am deeply grateful because since losing my parents, Project Pearls has become my second family, supporting me throughout my educational journey and enabling me to finish my studies. My goal now is to find a stable job that will allow me to support my family and assist other young people like me who once only dreamed of finishing their studies and achieving their aspirations in life.” - Rosalie R Isolo Change a life, it will change yours: www.projectpearls.org

Congratulations, Catherine! We are very proud of you! "Before Project Pearls, I was shy and had low grades. But as I became part of the Scholarship Program at Grade 3, my confidence grew, and I started excelling in school. Instead of playing on the streets, I attended programs to learn and make friends. My skills and talents flourished, and I realized how much I loved learning. Project PEARLS didn’t just help me academically; it also introduced me to LitClub, where I learned to read and share my life experiences. Even when my family moved to Bulacan, their support continued, ensuring I could keep studying. In Grade 8, I had the incredible opportunity to travel abroad with fellow scholars. I visited New York City and California, experiencing sights and tastes I had only dreamed of. These experiences were life-changing and made possible by Project PEARLS. This year, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education, majoring in Social Studies. I owe my achievements to the unwavering support of Project PEARLS. They transformed my life, helping me become not just a good student, but a confident and accomplished individual." - Catherine M. Orsal --- Be part of the transformative journey of our scholars. The Hunger Project and Pilipinas Kontra Gutom are merging to form Kain Tayo Pilipinas (KTP), aiming to significantly impact food security and malnutrition. KTP should also work directly with NGOs on the ground, leveraging their community knowledge to effectively address these critical issues. Thank you, Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP), for the invitation and for believing in our mission and recognizing that we walk the talk. What a promising night with various local government units, private sectors, foundations, and other NGOs. www.projectpearls.org
