Today is World Menopause Day, which is held every year on 18th October. This year we want to raise awareness and highlight the support available for improving health and wellbeing for women everywhere. Despite impacting half of the world’s population, menopause is a relatively under-researched and underfunded area. In fact, according to a Harvard article published earlier this year, less than 1 percent of published studies even considered menopause in preclinical models. This gap in research can translate to gaps in women’s health care overall. At MAC, Women’s Health studies is a key area of focus for us. Over the past 5 years, we’ve conducted 3 studies in menopause, specifically on Vasomotor Symptoms. Vasomotor symptoms (VMS) are a group of common symptoms that occur during menopause and perimenopause, including hot flashes, night sweats, palpitations, and migraines. These are often considered the cardinal symptoms of menopause. We remain passionate about supporting more research in this area to help alleviate symptoms that will inevitably impact so many of our world’s population. Read our article which explores how advancements in research could help us better understand menopause here: https://lnkd.in/dAV_45Ci #WorldMenopauseDay #WomensHealth #ClinicalResearch #cro

Last week we attended the 12th Annual Outsourcing in Clinical Trials (OCT) Nordics conference in Denmark, where the MAC team had a fantastic time connecting with industry experts and forging new relationships across the EU.   Kayleigh Edwards MSc, Inside Business Scientist, reflected:   "Attending the 12th Annual OCT Nordics conference was a great experience, we were fortunate to reconnect with some familiar faces and had plenty of opportunities to network and make new connections in the EU. We were pleased to discover that the MAC brand is more recognisable, and our profile is growing outside of the UK. It was inspiring to hear and learn from a wide variety of speakers and industry experts to learn about current challenges and cutting-edge developments in the clinical research space.“   We’re excited about the connections made and the opportunities ahead for MAC!   If you’d like to learn more about our services or find out how we can meet your study needs, get in touch with us here: https://lnkd.in/dKnZxfuD    #ClinicalTrials #OCTNordics #Networking #ClinicalResearch #biotech #pharamaceutical

As today marks World Mental Health Day, we want to raise awareness of the growing number of people who are affected by mental health disorders across the globe. According to World Health Organization, approximately 970 million people worldwide are living with a mental health disorder. The Mental Health Foundation projects that by 2030, mental health problems will be the leading cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. At MAC Clinical Research, we are committed to improving mental health through our expertise in conducting clinical studies in this area. We have vast experience in many mental health disorders including Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and Treatment-Resistant Depression (TRD). As part of this, we have led numerous psychedelic studies and seen promising results. Our in-house team of experts, including psychiatrists and therapists, have conducted studies using innovative treatments such as psilocybin, ibogaine, and deuterated DMT. These therapies are being explored for their potential in treating conditions like depression and PTSD. Let’s continue to break the stigma and push for progress in mental health treatment and awareness.
